I read this article and thought, "What?"

PFF is a crock of shite sometimes for NCAA stuff, been calling them out quite a few times for their ratings/rankings. There isn't a planet out there that would accept our OL being the best in CFB by any margin.

I got lambasted for saying our o-line is the furthest thing from the problem. They actually held up better than any other team this year against Bama. It is our offensive scheming that is asinine against Bama that causes problems.

I wouldn't put us number 1, or probably not even top 5, but the Oline at LSU is not nearly as pathetic as the fans seem to think it is.

"1. LSU Tigers (88.74 rating, on a 0-100 scale)
While the season has been disappointing as a whole for LSU, the offensive line has done its part. When adjusting for competition, the Tigers’ game against Alabama was not bad comparatively, as the Alabama defense has given up virtually nothing to opposing teams on the ground, while creating pressure at an incredibly high rate. The interior of the line is what sets LSU apart, starting with Ethan Pocic, who ranks fifth among centers at 84.2 overall, while guard Josh Boutte has the nation’s No. 6 grade at 84.8 overall, including an 87.1 grade as a run-blocker that ranks third. The other guard spot is manned by Will Clapp, who checks in with a strong 78.4 grade, highlighted with an 86.4 mark in pass protection."

Yes there is. However, our fans are dumbasses who think they should give Etling 4-5 seconds against the best d-line in the country after doing play action on 3rd and 8

Our OL has been shifting around all season and nobody on here has said they've been dominant. It's completely laughable to rank them the best in the country. Not saying they are awful but you're telling me you'd take our OL over EVERYONE elses? Hell no. You're flat out delusional. There is a clear weaknesses out at the tackle positions people have complained about all season.

I for one have been really disappointed at how the staff have gotten less and less imaginative with the offense so far.

You are flat out delusional. Our line is asked to do more than almost any other in the country. Running I formation and play action on almost 95% of pass plays. We arent running spread innovative offenses that take pressure off the lines. Our fans dont pay attention to any of that though, PFF does when they evaluate

First 3rd down against Bama, Malone gets worked and Etling sacked in a quick hurry. Had no time to throw.

Again, because of the tackles we've had to play, in no shape or form is this the best line in the country. You seriously cant sit here with a straight face and tell me KJ Malone and Maea Teheuma are good offensive tackles. Notice how neither one gets a mention in the ratings they talk about. The fact is we are weak at the tackle position which makes in no way this the best OL as a whole in the country. You're flat out delusional if you think Malone and Teheuma out at the tackle spots help make this the best OL in the country.

The one we played just 5 days ago for starters, you wouldn't trade KJ Malone for Cam Robinson? Our current coach basically said as much that he would.

So that makes their entire line better?

Also, considering they have a running mobile QB, we made their line look like arse last Saturday as well

Their line is much better balanced. Yes, Boutte and Pocic are very good players, but that's heavily offset by the fact Malone and Teheuma struggle out at LT and RT respectively (not their fault, neither one is really a true OT).

Bama has much stronger OTs and a much more balanced line. They are able to protect their QB more effectively and run the football effectively as well. Our line isn't built to do both.

The oline may be good. Bama's front 7 is great. May be rated 92+. I doubt Bama's oline could move their dline.

There's a reason that no matter what RB we put behind them, we have had success. Everybody wants to praise LF when he puts up 200+, yet criticize the O line when he runs for 35. Our O-line is legit. Bama has the best front 7 in college football. We will get back to running the ball with great success the last three games.

Oline has been bad against Wisky, Aubbie, and Bama. Basically they have sucked against any good D.
