I must say being the team that was solely responsible for eliminating Tennessee is so damn satisfying.
Not quite up there with taking 2 & 3 from Wake and the way game 3 transpired after the day before against UF, but it was so fun watching us dominate them in both games.

This team will be extremely hard to replicate. Not only the skill, but the camaraderie was unparalleled. I don’t think people truly realize how incredible this team and title were.

Beat UT twice
Beat Wake twice
Beat Florida twice

…. Frickin amazing exciting dramatic incredible wild intoxicating run in Omaha

I know football is coming soon, but I’m still high on what we did - and more importantly how we did it - in Omaha.

You sure about that? Do you know anything about the 1991 team? They were 8-0 in the ncaa tournament with ONE close game. They steamrolled through the cws. The weekend rotation were ALL big league pitchers. One of them, Chad Ogea, was 2-0 in the 1997 World Series for the Indians. Another, Paul Byrd, had a long career in the bigs. I loved the 2023 team but they lost 2 games in the cws with several close wins.

The only thing that would have made it better is if Ben would have been calling the LSU games in Omaha.

I mentioned pitching of 89 before with 6 MLB pitchers on that roster. 91 and 93 had both multiple big league pitchers. We will see where 2023 ends up.

Yes I’m sure. 91 was the first year we had season tickets and that as the season I fell in love with LSU baseball. Fantastic team with a dominant omaha run. Hymel and Mouton were the only guys on that team that could have started for the 23 team

Obviously you can't really compare the 2 teams that way. The talent in college baseball today is significantly higher than it was back then. This team would smoke most teams from the 90s. You have to look at it as how good was this team relative to the rest of the field this season

And yet there were people that just wanted LSU to lose that game because it was going to be hard, or impossible in their words, for LSU to win the national championship.

With the ‘97 bats this team would have hit over 200 home runs easy.
