That season you are referring of with Lafell, he led the team in receptions and receiving yards that season with 656 yards and 50 receptions. That sophomore season would stack up with any of those guys you are referring. Also consider, he played for 4 different qbs in 4 different years. Exactly like people are posting about they will never forget Lafell (for the 2 or 3 game spell) he had dropping the ball, people say the same things about Beckham costing us a game here or there for a fumble or drop or fumbled punt. I've defended both Beckham and Lafell on here plenty. It's hard to compare some of the older guys because we really ran the ball a ton then. If you look at consistent production in terms of receiving yards, receptions, and tds, Lafell should be in or near your top 5 list. Beckham should be a given.

Lafell's career ranks:

3rd in receptions
5th in yards
2nd in tds

Looks like a top 5 guy.

How in the hell did LSU not win the championship last year with Mett, Hill, OBJ, and Landry?
We have a grass eater for a coach. that should tell you all you need to know. But just in case it's not, he also hates the forward pass. That makes it difficult to win in football in the post WW2 world.

Also, those guys mentioned accounted for like 90% of the offense. We were not a great overall team last year, but we had unbelievable top end talent. And this offense often is viewed as outstanding, but ranked right in the middle of the SEC while the defense ranked 3rd or 4th, but got bashed by people all year. I think it boiled down to us not trusting anyone else to touch the ball outside of those 4.

They were plenty successful.

He was dazzling with some of those catches, including his pregame highlights!

A possible benefit from the injury is that he could be fresher down the stretch than opposing DBs. He just looked like he had more energy, more bounce than anyone else on the field last night.

Rueben Randle deserves credit on some of those YAC because he was blocking well on the short passes to OBJ.

I think RR gets shortchanged a little bit because of his demeanor. He has that relaxed vibe, but that's just his way. He's smooth and very fluid for a bigger guy, and oftentimes makes it look easy. I think some guys with a more intense disposition might take that the wrong way sometimes.

If there is a guy who gets short-changed in these WR repeatedly it is Carlos Carson.

ranking lafell over Wendell Davis and Eric Martin is just dumb. and also ranking him over Landry is very suspect. in fact, if Lafell is in the top 10, which he isn't, he'd be tenth on your list. he was a pretty good receiver but you must be related to him.

This article was written in 2011. I know its been 3 years but look at who is number one. Those are the top 3 lsu receivers that are listed in that. I don't care who you put after that but nobody can argue about those three.

I never hear anyone mention skylar green or our deep threat that left for the olympics xavier carter. I'm not saying they are a top receiver from lsu but i loved the big play ability of these guys. Always made it exciting.

I have Davis right behind Lafell, but I think it's close. Martin and Landry in my top 10. Martin has way more of a claim as far as his overall production. Landry was a highlight reel player and an amazing all around football player, but he put up one great season.

It can be debated forever, but that's my opinion. People continue to fail to see how good Lafell really was at LSU. He is still representing.

He is often out-of-sync with Eli on those option routes, but you can't put that all on Randle. That's an issue of the two of them not being in rhythm, and reading coverage differently.

Yes. In a 16 team league, and is a pretty good option. Maybe not so much in bitch arse 8 and 10 team leagues.

Most LSU fans still don't believe in him after everything he did at LSU. He caught a bad wrap early on and people never forgave him; just like Lafell. Our fans are just brutal. Beckham and Lafell are easy top 5 wrs at LSU all time. Currently, they look like the best 2 LSU wrs in the league as well.
