I'm glad to see he is willing to make changes... that's a start.

Now, was in BDP or lack of talent that has kept LSU as one of the only teams that cannot kick the ball into/out of the endzone with regularity?

We stopped the "pen them in the corner" kick strategy, but we still couldn't kick the ball in the endzone and frequently gave up pretty big returns, it seems.

The corner kick is not a bad strategy, IF (big if) you have a kicker that can kick is very high, giving coverage time to get to the KR and tackle him inside the 15 yard line. But when 1 of every 3 kicks goes out of bounds and the other 2 result in a return to mid-field and one stop at about the 20 - 25 it's not working.... so that is coaching.

The strategy isn't all bad -- the execution/coaching of it was poor.

Or maybe he recognizes that special teams has been atrocious under BDP... but that would be giving too much credit to the Cajun.

For what it's worth --- kicking the ball out of the endzone every time for a touchback --- whether we are the kicking team or the return team is pretty boring football to watch.

but safe, I'd rather have the opposing team start on the 20 (guaranteed) than risk possibly stopping them behind the 20 vs giving up big plays and changing the emotion of the game

This wasn't needed on multiple boards.

So...your argument is what exactly? He can see what everyone else sees and that's bad?

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb

Yep, it has to be Coach O responding to the mob.

It couldn't possibly be that Coach O has seen Peveto up close for the last two years and decided a change was needed.

I'd rather that be boring and a team pinned deep to start every drive without the opportunity to score a special teams TD or having a great return and giving their offense a short field to play with to score points and putting unnecessary pressure on your defense to come up with stop that could have been prevented simply by having a kicker that reach the damn end zone on a consistent basis unlike what we have had the past few seasons...

but safe

True --- just boring in my opinion to watch the kick go over the KR's head, out of the endzone, and ball placed on the 25 yard line.

I get the "safe" part --- and I wish we could kick it out of the endzone to avoid a big return, but whether coaching or talent --- we have not had a kicker that can do this regularly in a long time.
