Nussmeier Injury?

I'm sure someone here knows more than this shite from The Advertiser.... what's Nuss' injury exactly?
[Nussmeier had "corrective surgery" this offseason and will need "another week or so" before he can fully participate in spring practices, Kelly said Thursday.] LINK /
Why would a professional journalist who "covers LSU sports" post the quote above, with no context, no history, no further detail about what the injury is, and what that means for the QB competition between the 2 this Spring?
