Mixed feelings on this.

Sure it would be nice to see what Nuss could do but damn I’d hate to let this staff ruin 2 young QBs.

This staff has only “ruined” Johnson. Nuss has the killer mentality that won’t get ruined. He’s up for the challenge. You can just tell by his body language and decision making that it’s there.

I wouldn’t mind giving Nuss a start. Watching him play yesterday I had several thoughts about him compared to Johnson. First he has way quicker feet. Johnson looks a little awkward with his feet and doesn’t tuck and run when he could and get a decent yardage. Nuss would be able to creat plays passing by extending the play outside the pocket or by tucking it and running better than Max does. Secondly watching Nuss throw, his delivery seems way quicker to Max’s. I though we should have given Nuss a drive after the 3 and out in 7 because it was clear Max wasn’t going to turn it around. Going forward I would be ok giving Nuss a few drives and we play whoever is playing better. I think Max is good but I’m not sold on him being the sole guy right now

Not against Bama. He needs to play. But starting him could negatively impact him. Let Max start and put Nuss in periodically. See what the defense is doing. If they are playing up, put Garrett in and throw some deep.

I think Nuss should get playing time every game from here on out.

Don’t underestimate just how bad O and Peetz really are.

You want to screw up a tree freshman by throwing him back there? Do you not remember Jarrett Lee?

comparing no talent Jarrett Lee to a QB with talent like Nuss is absurd

That TD pass. Made me feel for a fleeting moment that I was watching Burrow thread tight needles.

Saban naturally would rather Johnson

Disagree but he needs more experience since the year is wasted already.

Let’s start a true freshman in the road against a top 5 team. What could go wrong? I often wonder if our fans actually watch the games. Our OL is so bad Tom Brady wouldn’t survive.

Max isn’t the problem. The throw he made to Palmer when he got crushed was an elite level throw under extreme duress. Anyone think Nuss makes that throw under the same circumstances?

Well, no shite. Max has played way better than I expected him to, but it’s so obvious that Nuss is better. He was a swag to him, a confidence, am energy that brings to the field threat changes the entire energy of the offense. He’s a playmaker. He’s not afraid or intimidated. Hey may be too confident right mow and throw some picks. But he’ll make a ton of Lois rice plays too. And Ray Charles can tell he’s more physically gifted than Max. He has a much better arm, he’s faster, and he’s more elusive. But he’s decisive.

Max’s strengths were supposed to be his calmness, his being more polished and mentally ready because of who his dad is. And he’s the conservative one. Or was supposed to be. He’s had a nice TD to interception ratio, but he’s been lucky on a few balls that could have been picked. And turned the ball over on fumbles twice yesterday.

So even if Max is the more conservative option, I’d rather lose 41-13 with Nuss and have a chance to win than 38-21 with Max and not really have a chance.

The interesting thing about our situation with O, is what are his motivations. If he goes with Nuss amd he plays well, well then he’ll get crushed for not having gone to him earlier. On the other hand, does he want to get these young guys all the reps and get polished so the next coach can walk right in to an embarrassment of riche, win immediately, amd make O look even worse. Will be really interesting to see how he plays to the rest of the year.

Naw let Max take the beating until we settle in and the bring in Nuss in 2nd quarter and that might be the end of Max.

One downside of nuss taking over is Jake Johnson likely gone, but I agree higher ceiling with Nuss

A Tight End? I know he’s gonna be good, but you can’t base your decision on the starting QB based on any single recruit, especially a fricking TE?

“I’d hate to let this staff ruin 2 young QBs.”

Rant myth that has no basis in reality. Nobody is ruining any QBs, thinking shite like this is silly.

I’m with you on that. I felt like we saw a lot of talent in Max last year, and then along came Peetz to ruin it! Hopefully, Max has a coach who can come in to reteach and coach him the right way.

I would hate to put in another QB with Peetz. It is obvious he doesn’t know what to do with these boys.

Wait until we get a “qualified” OC coach!

Totally agree, let him roll out and rpo its time, can't sit in the pocket against Bama, he has better arm and scrambles better
