The moral of the story is I'm sure Greg Studrawa gives 2 shits if he has impressed you or not.

You have an inflated sense of worth.

F'in this.

I would guess 30-50% of all players and 50-75% of all parents on a given team don't like the coach...

I coached HS football for 10 years and HS baseball for 14. The single reason I gave it up: parents.

I was harping on exactly this during the season. Good to see it's been corrected. The same person being the part time OC and part time OL coach made absolutely no sense.

It made sense to anyone who paid attention to what went on with the offense staff in 2011.

Some are truly clueless to the LSU family.

we could have used him due to injuries and youth on the line

But you say there's plenty of depth on the line.

Which is it?

So since there is a limit on the number of assistant coaches, which makes sense, is it better to have an OC that is also a quarterbacks coach with an offensive line coach or is it better to have a quarterbacks coach and instead of the TE's coach, have the WR's coach also work with the TE's maybe? How do most teams do this?

So he hires a new OC and then tells him who his assistants are?

I think he was better at OL than he was as OC. But time has a way of changing things, so IMO, it remains to be seen what kind of job he's going to do. But CC is gonna be looking for results, as will CLM, so I don't think he'll get to pout or skate for long. My hunch is there is a resume in the making and he'll move on in a year or so.

It doesn't matter who is the OC, Les has to get out of the way & let him do his job.

This is true. Hopefully Les has hired the guy he feels like he can leave alone and let do his thing.

Remember when Gerry Dinardo was head coach and he was putting OL in the NFL nearly every year. I long for those days. Don't care who gets it done. But, we need to have dominant lineman in the offense again.

Heck, Dinardo was in Miles' wedding with Cameron. Fire Stud, hire Dinardo as OL coach, and get the gang back together.

Kragthorpe was diagnosed with Parkinson's right before the start of fall camp. What the frick did you want Miles to do at that point? I'm sure at the time it was discussed as a temporary thing, but the team then proceeded to go 13-1 and played for the national championship. I can't really blame him for keeping it going another year since we all thought Mett would fix the QB woes.

We do have depth on the OL. I'm saying that when Vadal was getting beat like he stole something Stud should have been down there to coach him up and make adjustments accordingly.

this exactly. so when/if somebody screws up, coach can teach them the right way face to face

I've wondered about this too. Seems like having a devoted QB coach would be more important than a TE coach.

I love when someone makes the uber-informed comment "he isn't a good OL coach".

Really?

How many practices have you been to? How sharp are you that you can watch a game and tell just how good or bad the OL coach is?

If Greg Studrawa was a detriment to this program, Leslie Miles would have figured out a way to get rid of him. If he is good enough for Les, then he is good enough for me.

With their budget, there's no reason to run lean on staff and double up their duties.

The problem for the LSU coaching staff was not one of economics. It was a matter of Coach Kragthorpe's untimely diagnosis of Parkinson's. At that point in time, one couldn't hire a worthy OC and we already had the NCAA allowed maximum number of coaches on our staff. Someone had to step up and do double duty. That ended up being Coach Stud. Life dealt Coach Kragthorpe and the LSU coaching staff a bad hand. Fortunately, it looks like Coach Miles has found a better long term solution w/ the hiring of CC.

This. With a team possibly good enough to make a run for the championship, Miles wanted to maintain continuity. Too late to make such a big change.

He was in a similar situation of trying to "maintain" continuity after winning it all in 2007, and needing to replace Bo P. He tried an experiment that failed, and he moved on to the Chief. I see similarities in the situations, the results, and the solutions. If CC has anywhere near the results as Chief, we are in for some Good Times.
