but regarding the playoff ranking, there is no possible way Bama will be ranked ahead of us, to this point we have done more and have not lost a game. we will be #2 in the playoff committee rankings, behind Clemson

the fascination with this ranking is laughable....it's so OLE MISS like. "we are #1...We are #2...no way this team is over us"....

like a bunch of little kids. It means nothing at this point.....LSU wins, they in...the don't then they won't.

My thoughts, taking in the Baylor QB injury (which they will do until Baylor plays a couple games likely)

1. Clemson
2. LSU
3. OSU
4. Baylor

Seriously?

this is funny to me....it's the college kids dick measuring contest...when in a few weeks there is going to be an official dick measurer who is going to get an accurate measure of your dick....no need to proclaim Holmesism beforehand....(John that is).

Do what? I happen to think that LSU is better than bama...significantly better, in fact. I'm simply saying that for one....this first release means absolutely nothing. They know it and most people know it. Secondly, you cannot deny, for one second, the media love for bama. they won't take heed early on......but you let LSU beat bama...then bama run the table...and watch all these other teams lose a game...there will be talking heads out the arse 24/7 proclaiming bama is one of the top 4 teams in the nation....despite 2 losses....and they deserve it over a 1 loss "insert team name"....

Whether it works or not...who knows. But, you know it and I know it...if it panned out that way with bama having two losses and everyone else having 1 but LSU. They would be screaming...."but the objective is to get the best 4 teams in the playoff...period" and you would have a lot of nodding that yes, bama is definitely one of the top 4 teams......

Food for thought - most weeks spent in the Top 4 of the CFB Playoff Selection Committee Rankings:

FSU - 7
Oregon - 6
Miss St. - 5
Alabama - 4
TCU - 2
Auburn - 2
Ole Miss - 1
Ohio State - 1

what is this criteria of the selection committee again? I'm assuming you know what it is, since you know what it isn't?

I sure do. It's on the college football playoff website.

So do you think it's a stretch, whether true or not, that the majority of the media thinks Alabama is a top 4 team in terms of best teams in football? Do you think it's possible that the selection members believe bama is a top 4 team?

First off, Alabama is currently ranked 7th in the Associated Press poll. So no, the majority of the media does not believe they are a top 4 team, based on that.

Secondly, the committee doesn't go off of what they believe. They go off of results on the field and overall résumés, and they proved it all of last season. So no, as of now, the committee wouldn't have Alabama in their top 4, either.

I do not see the committee putting OSU at #1. I get the pollsters do bc they think preseason #1 stays #1 until they lose but the committee won't be concerned about last year's results.

I think either Clemson or LSU will be #1.

I think they put LSU and Bama in the top 4 just to make the matchup seem so much bigger. I think Baylor falls this week as well

Mississippi State was #1 in the first CFB Playoff Committee poll last year, and we all know how that turned out. The only poll that matters is the one that comes out on December 6.

For the same reason we will be this year...best resume. Then it's up to us to play it out...State failed at this task.

There's absolutely no way they have Ohio St. as the #1 team. They put so much emphasis on strength of schedule and body of work... Ohio St. just doesn't have it.

ETA: You might see something like:

1.) LSU
2.) Clemson
3.) Ohio St.
4.) Baylor

I'm not sure you have the better resume than Clemson. It's close between UF/ND as the best win, and IMO Clemson has looked better in a lot of their other wins

In reality, LSU/Clemson/OSU are in no matter what if they win so who cares

When it's all said and done, I think it will be:

Ohio State
TCU
Clemson
Alabama

I just don't see LSU making it through November without a loss. I suppose that Florida might be able to sneak in by winning out.

After what happened last season to Bama, if the Gumps get in, they will be matched with the weakest possible opponent.
