might get forced into competing for the job

Are you fricking kidding me? What a pussy arse thing to post. If he doesn't want to have to compete for the job every single day he is here, then GTFO. I can't believe you would support this, if it were even true. The minute players don't have to compete for their jobs every practice is the day the program starts declining.

He also had a ton of praise for Steven Rivers, mentioned his size and work ethic, and specifically brought him up two different times when discussing players he was excited about

This kid could be really good, put up better numbers than Phillip did in HS and suposedly has better form than him. Will be exciting to see him develop

It seems very much out of character for miles to comment about him be angry at players.

My thoughts as well. I'm concerned that Mett, of all people, is on the coach's radar. With his history, he should be working hard and keeping his trap shut. Guys with perceived character issues need to work extra hard to show that the past is just that.

hopefully, it's nothing. But I am concerned because it speaks to Mett's attitude. And we don't need another Perrilloux.

Sorry but id think more rplayers would be behind Jj and lee over mett. Lee and JJ have been there 4-5 years. Theyve gone through the work and the ups and downs since 07. All the other upperclassmen are behind those guys.

*cough* JJ *cough*

Seriously though, I meant more that it sounds like Miles is already talking about a successor to JJ that isn't Mett. If I felt that Miles played favorites then the praise for Rivers and being "mad" at Mett doesn't sound like he'll get a fair shot next year either. If true, then he has a right to be pissed.

Obviously, that is all speculation because I'm bored. They should all be kicking arse every day to earn the right to play for the Tigers.

In the off chance that you are right, it makes Mett sound like a sissy.

Everyone is blowing this shite WAY out of proportion.

I was there...I heard what he said. Miles' attitude was like "I'm not concerned about it in the least, and you as fans shouldn't be either."

If that was true then LSU is fricked for another 4 years at QB. Because I highly doubt a RS Freshman can take this team over next year. Especially a project like Rivers...

I didn't read this whole thread, so if the last fan question of the Tiger Tour was mentioned already, I apologize. But anyway, the last question was from some geriatric asking why Lee didn't get into the game against aTm with it being a blowout. I felt like Miles answered the question perfectly. "He was in the last series." Boom, end of Tiger Tour. The more I thought about this guy asking that question, the more pissed I got. Only a handful of questions could be asked, we have a top 5 team going into a very difficult season, and we are expected to do great things. Why would some jackass waste our coach's time with such an asinine question?

Yea I left that part out of my summary, but it annoyed me too. I was hoping someone would ask about special teams because that's really the biggest question mark right now, instead the night ended with a waste of a question complaining about a game we won by 20.

Damn, youi got the next 4 years figured out at starting QB based on a few sentences of Miles? Come on, stop being 'that guy'. fricking ridiculous.

And TheDoc and others, who just can't grasp that Mett IS competing in an open competition. Can't let go of the fact that the guy you thought to be the savior at QB may actually be the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th option at this point.

Anything Miles says pro JJ or anti ZM will get the same response from you idiots every time.

ZM should thank his lucky stars he got a second chance, and it's with an outstadning program. Sounds like he needs to get his priorities straight, or he may never play a significant down at LSU.

You gotta think about where you were last night...we were in Houston...about an hour and 15 minutes from Brenham...which is JLee's hometown...the dude was probably JLee's grandfather or something.

You must have missed the part where I said this is all just speculation out of boredom.

This will all be proven on the field. I'll be curious to see how many people claiming how ignorant it is to believe that it isn't an open competition will man up and eat their words if JJ proves them wrong. I don't think it is, but I can't wait to be proven wrong when JJ comes out swinging and shows he has improved so drastically that he has legitimately beaten out both Lee and Mett.

Yup, I guess I missed that part.

The way I see it, JJ is getting praise from Miles, Krags, and several unbiased spectators at the Manning camp. It sounds like all accounts that he's winning the starting job.

Now, find me ONE statement from anybody other than a few Rantards who have only seen him throw in 1 spring game, where Mett has shown that he deserves the starting job over JJ, or even Lee, or our other two freshman.

And IF he has grade issues (pure speculation) that shows where his work ethic and priorities are.

Now, I'm not near as much pro JJ as I am pro coaching staff. They see what goes on every day, and are professionals. And they want to win even more than we want them to win. They have a lot more riding on it. I support whatever decision they make.

But for people to claim that ZM never had a chance or that there was never a competition, are just making ignorant, unsubstantiated remarks.

He talked about when his daughter sang the national anthem at an LSU baseball game last year, and said the standing ovation she got after finishing was the biggest reward of his life.
I was fortunate enough to be there and I was proud of her too. I have to admit I got a little "fatherly" emotional about it too.
