Dear Harry,
I understand the consternation you felt as a result of my listing a couple of the artists played over the sound system since they may seem "uncool" to you, so allow me to allay your fears in the hopes that you will no longer feel that you have to express yourself by saying FYL for the sake of voicing disapproval with the song selection I overheard.
You see, when installing and testing out a new sound system, especially one as significant as in Tiger Stadium, it is important for the sound engineers charged with calibrating it to play a wide range of audio in order to properly test the levels of the treble, mid-range, and bass. In the case of Skrillex, it may be a largely unliked genre and artist, but the audio quality of the "music" is dynamic, which can go a long way in determining the sound system's capabilities. Norah Jones, on the other hand, gives the sound engineers the opportunity to determine the clarity of the system in that her music features a clear voice against the backdrop of other musical instruments so that they can judge whether the system can adequately feature the enunciation of her singing, which directly relates to the how well in-game announcers' speech can be understood by we fans and ticket holders.
I assure you that those two artists do not accurately reflect my personal musical preferences, nor do they indicate what we can expect to hear "piped in," as they say, during gameday.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to leave me a comment and I'll be sure to check back in with you.
Regards,
DontCare
Damn, Harry.

I agree, the game day experience is tarnished if those 20 year-olds aren't blaring their horns for four hours in 90 degree heat while wearing all-wool uniforms! And god forbid we have a sound system worthy of the 21st century!

Has the director realized that no one wants to watch the band perform the latest latin sensation snoozer music (except maybe former musicians).
Yall are talented, but your director makes some of the stuff boring. The team and fans don't get pumped up with that nonsense. Granted, I have only been to a couple games since I graduated 2 years ago so maybe things have changed. I heard yall were playing Gangnam style. A step in the right direction to get the crowd into it.

you're right, music sounds better on shitty speakers! how could i be so dumb?!?!
Predictable canned music sounds best on shitty speakers. Like a car pulling up next to you at the stop light with blaring bad music rattling the trunk, it's just not enough to suck. It needs that nails on the chalkboard annoyance.

Off topic, but Roy King is a dud for director. But that's what LSU wanted, a safe conservative hire. They should have promoted Linda Morehouse when they had the chance. Not only would she have continued the OCD-type demand for quality with the band, but she would have put her foot down against the powers that be in regards to more music and less Tigerband during the game. I bet Roy just smiles and says, "yes, whatever you want". Again, that's what LSU wanted, so...
