a pitcher can dominate in different ways, but 12K's in 6.2 takes the cake, at least for tonight

What about this game said Beede is the better pitcher? I didn't get a chance to watch but NOLA's line after the first 1.66 innings looks better.

I'm not arguing either way, but ignoring part of either's performance isn't exactly a great defense.

Fair enough, I just don't see how one has an edge over the other after tonight. Apparently a few in this thread do, I am just wondering what I am missing.

That's okay. I don't think anyone is trying to say it's obvious, but you go off of what you saw live. How they approached hitters; how they got them out; how much the struggled; getting out of jams; command; late velocity.

Depending on how much you weigh those things will affect your opinion.

Most scouts seem to think Beede is a better prospect and has better stuff. I wouldn't be in any position to dispute that. But as far as a college pitcher, I am taking Nola. Beede doesn't even have a 2:1 K/BB ratio on his career. Nola is at 8:1. And that is by far the main thing a pitcher can control.

All I know is they are 2 of the best pitches in the game. Choosing 1 over the other is almost impossible, and you cant go wrong with either.

And i think Nola has more Ks and less hits given up on the year as well.

early in the thread, it does seem like you keep repeating that you thought beede was better when no one had really contradicted you.

I said it twice. Once as a response to a post directed to me.

They weren't pitching in the same strike zone tonight at all. It's close but Nola has better stuff. If the game was at the box and he got the home field strike zone beede got he probably throws 8 shutout.

It's splitting hairs. If you want to go the college pitcher route, there's no disputing what Nola's done. Beede just has the physical tools and a higher ceiling all while performing excellently through this beginning stretch.

Beede is likely going to be drafted higher, but that's not set in stone. And a higher ceiling doesn't always equate to a better career.

And even then, I don't believe Carlos Rodon has preformed as well as Beede or Nola, but that's your number one pick.

Beebe has 3-4 extra MPH on his fastball when he wants it. His control isnt on Nola's level though.

I really don't see how there is any argument about who has been the better college pitcher. Nola's stats are clearly superior.

Beede may have the better pure stuff and be the better pro prospect though.

3 mph on his fastball but his secondary pitches are slightly worse.

Yea Beede has a few more mph on his ball and a higher ceiling when it comes to the majors. But even though Nola doesnt have quite the speed that Beede does, is close though, he does have some serious movement on it.

I just cant sit here and say this guy is better than that guy. Even after tonight.
