That's just not true this year. Lots of potential hosts in the SEC this year and the tournament could be the deciding factor between who does and doesn't host.

People say things like LSU will host because they're LSU and the SEC tournament doesn't matter because they see people say that a lot so it must be true.
Both are fluid and vary season by season. The SEC tournament didn't matter in 2009, 2012, or 2013. But it mattered in 2008, 2010, and this season.
