les has had his chances to win respect and he just hasn't crossed that bridge. the NC - if we put up 13 to 17 points in that game i believe he wins respect. he did not coach that game at all.

He will have more chances. I believe he'll get there.

i also think he's a top coach.

this year's team could be awfully good. and the good news is i believe it will be a very hungry team, which will help us get thru this schedule without a letdown.

Too much bleeping hand wringing about plays and results. So you think that he is no better than 24th ranked coach in the nation?

I think he is top-10. Some of the names on the list are flashy and that's to be expected - ex. Sumlin. Some are at schools were 9+ win seasons with one good win gets you props - Boise, TCU.

The lower our football team and coach are ranked, the happier I am this off season. Get LSU good and pissed, and see what happens...

You'd have thought that last year after we got our asses handed to us in the Nat'l Champ. But as usual, with our Les Miles coached team, we came out for a lot of games unprepared, unfocused, and unenthusiastic. We lost to two teams that we should've beat by two touchdowns easily, we gave away another gem to our biggest rival, and damn near lost to a 3-9 Auburn, played like shite against Towson, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.

Idk what y'all see in the guy. Sure he has 11 wins in 5 of his last 8 seasons. But this isn't LSU of the 60's-90's where if we play Bama tough then it's ok. This is the LSU where we should be expecting to whip Bama's arse year in and year out. I'm thoroughly convinced that we had more talent than they did this year. But one man is holding us back.

There's no reason that we shouldn't be top 3 nationally every year with the talent we have.

Les continues to show that he can't progress players and that he can't get the most out of his players. I will stand by my statements I stated earlier which is, we have enough talent to win every ball game it's not we don't have as much talent as the teams that beat us, it's that we are constantly are out coached, unfocused, unprepared, and unenthusiastic.

This is not the players' fault, it's the man who's in charge fault.

Don't get me wrong, I cheer like hell for him to do well and win every single ball game. I'm a tiger and I really and truly believe that Les is too. But I believe that he fails to see his mistakes and the gravity that they have. Because more often than not, coaches' mistakes cost team games, seasons, and championships.

6) Chris Petersen

quote:

In seven years with the Broncos, Petersen has recorded at least 10 wins in every season.

Les Miles averages 10.5 wins a year at LSU

quote:

Also, Boise State has played in two BCS bowl games and has four finishes inside of the top 10 of the final Associated Press poll.

Played in three BCS Bowls, two of which are national championships, and also have had 5 finishes in the top 10.

landed a favorable deal to stay in the Mountain West,

Pretty sure those 10 wins a year from the SEC are more prestigious than beating Little Sisters of the Poor in the WAC/MWC.

I frickin hate Chris Peterson, he's an overhyped wad of crap

you, and everyone of Miles' other detractors all put the losses on him and solely him. which is complete crap. Miles had Saban out coached and we outplayed Alabama for that football game. Hell, we gave Texas A&M a freakin' roadmap to beat Bama after we beat them to hell. Ole Miss historically plays against us with the "everything & the kitchen sink" mentality, and its always a good game. (exclude 2011 when we had a freak team and Ole Miss was just bad.)

alot of the other blame can be put on other areas of the game that Miles doesn't control. the Alabama game was a classic and ultimately came down to one play. a RB screen to TJ Yeldon. *ding* Point to Chavis in the blown game category. the change in defense argument is "old" but it was what freakin' happened. because it makes 100% sense to take your foot off of the opposing team's throat and allow him to throw when he has 80+ yards to go for the game winning score... nice.

Les' record benefits from a 12 game schedule.

Sure, but that's only one game than McClendon played and if 10 wins season are so easy to come by, it would stand to reason we would have recorded more than 7 before LM.

Plus, LM has average almost 12 wins a season in five of his eight years. How easy is it to do that?

Bottom line, LM has had a special career at LSU.

Anyone pissing on that career is a fricking fool.

Only one is a lot in CFB. The equivalent of a 10 win season now is a 9 win season prior to 12 game schedules.

This is a better argument than 10 win seasons. Les has five 11 win seasons at LSU with a 12 game schedule.

He will end up the winningest coach in LSU history if he chooses.

Agreed. But the OT was where he ranks in the game today. Easily it's better than 24th or 7th SEC. But he's not the best coach in America.

And I think he will do this. I think he coaches here another ten years and hangs it up.......I don't see the GREEDY Money the NFL can offer to influence him..... He will get paid VERY WELL as long as he is doing what has done at LSU............... There is only TWO coaches at this time that I would want at LSU and that's Saban[which will never happen]]]]]] Or Meyer and he will be at OSU for at least 7 more years........

No you don't. You were bitching about Les the whole way.

OP started out by stating that Les is better than 24th. Your bitching and yada yada seem to agree with the ranking.

Or do you bitch/argue with anyone that supports Les.

Let me ask the question again. Is Les better than 24th ranked coach of the year?

Thankfully, not many remember the whining about Saban after 2003 NC. We should have lost that first game. We should have blown out that team. Now it's Les' turn.

Good for Ole Miss, we're still LSU, we should handle them without batting our eyes.

Last I checked, this is a Les Miles coached football team, it's not Chavis' team. It's Les' team. He should control all aspects of the game, or at least have some kind of say so in each aspect.

Y'all are so quick to jump to his defense that you're blind to the fact that if it wasn't for him, we would be where Alabama is. Not on the outside looking in. You think after the Auburn or Towson games that anybody really feared us? Hell no. People used to fear us, now, because of Les, we're no longer the feared ones.

People still bitch about Saban losing to UAB in 2000. You can never fix these people. Just like LSU fans bringing up Saban losing to ULM at Alabama. You think Alabama fans give a shite about that loss?

Miles as a whole has done a tremendous job at LSU. I just wish we had more hardware to show for it.
