Les will be facing some of these coaches. Winning against higher rated coaches will be nice.

5. Steve Spurrier, South Carolina
6. Chris Petersen, Boise State
7. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
8. Bobby Petrino, Western Kentucky
9. Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech
10. Gary Patterson, TCU
11. Mark Richt, Georgia
12. Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern
13. Art Briles, Baylor
14. Brady Hoke, Michigan
15. Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State
16. Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M
17. James Franklin, Vanderbilt
18. Charlie Strong, Louisville
19. Al Golden, Miami
20. David Shaw, Stanford
21. Mike Riley, Oregon State
22. Rich Rodriguez, Arizona
23. Dan Mullen, Mississippi State
24. Les Miles, LSU
25. Bret Bielema, Arkansas

Obviously because they're so much better than him.

and how many of the losses are due to his failures as a gameday HC?

maybe all of them...

Because Saban is shining brighter than Miles and LSU fans cannot stand the fact that Saban and the Tide play for Crystal Balls, while Les and the Tiger play for Chicken sandwiches. This is not my mind set, but many of my friends and family feel this way.

5. Steve Spurrier, South Carolina
6. Chris Petersen, Boise State
7. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
8. Bobby Petrino, Western Kentucky
9. Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech
10. Gary Patterson, TCU
11. Mark Richt, Georgia
12. Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern
13. Art Briles, Baylor

Going by this this Miles should be no lower than #10. Some of the coaches he has above Miles are just plain "WTF".

Miles is certainly better than Mark Richt in my opinion and has gotten the better of Spurrier each time they've gone against each other. Has done okay against Saban as well until the last couple of games. I actually think he out coached Saban in last season's loss, but a loss is a loss.

I think Les is a good recruiter. That's what he brings to the table, because he has shown everybody over and over that he sucks as a game day coach. The LSU program, facilities and location will always provide us with great recruits and 10+ win seasons year in year out in spite of Miles' decisions on staff and on gamedays, but please don't tell me that Les Miles is an intelligent football coach.....

the media couldn't give two shits about this.

I find your argument flawed...Mark Richt who is ahead of Miles on this list is in a more fertile place(Georgia)to recruit than Miles....Georgia is a hotbed for top recruits every year(ask Saban) and they don't win as much as Miles teams.
Saban wins with the best players in the country...which makes for an excellent coach.. Miles should be given the same yardstick imo....

I agree. I think Les is a good program manager, but he needs to leave the game planning and game day decisions to Cam...

Let him recruit and pump everybody up for the pregame speech, but leave the rest to the coordinators.

I like Les for his goofiness and press conferences, but I agree with this list....he is nowhere near the top. If he ran the program with discipline and a strong mental toughness to the players.....he would be every bit as good as Saban, Muschamp, Kelly, Meyer, etc....

cause everyone kicked FL's arse in 07. Get fricking real.

Who's been better while at LSU? It's ok if you hate the guy but the numbers dont lie. Results biznitch. I know it's frustrating b/c many of you know you'd do such a better job or any other coach would make better decisions but who else has gotten us to those moments?

I guess you think a 60 minute game only comes down to the final minute? Watch the game again and tell me Miles "out-coached" anything but himself.

I was at that game. Perhaps my recall is flawed, but I believe that fake punt occurred on the first or second series of the game. I don't believe we even scored on that drive. It's hard to see how the call won the game for us. Victory was secured because of two blocked kicks/punts and JRock's late game TD pass to Early Doucet.

The 2 most recent losses to Alabama and an obvious inability to establish even a top 50 ranked offense over the last few years leaves an impression in sports reporters minds. Like it or not, the list is not fair, but he's not basing it on just on wins and losses. As much as I like Les Miles, the impression of how amazingly unprepared his team looked against BAMA in the NC game and his unwillingness to implement any in-game adjustments, give one reason to understand why this writer made these judgments. I don't agree with it but I can see how he "perceives" it.

His play calling in the past has kept a lot of teams in games with us when should not have been. Not closing games out will eventually come back to haunt you. See Clemson this year.
