re: No one but Les deserves to lead this team next season.

The point, it was missed. Hint: it was not specifically about Bama. They were the extreme example to show that to simply crucify anyone who shows hope for next year is being dull. It's implicitly stating that "there is no hope" is the superior mindset. It's not. It may be the safer mindset, one that protects you from the evils of being disappointed, but some people decide that they can handle temporary disappointment in exchange for being excited for a game. Whether you want him or not, Les is here. Throw in the towel if that's your style. I'll choose to hope for a great year, and I'll choose to continue to expect it, whoever the coach is.

That's all great, but the context of the argument that we are having is quite literally that Miles "deserves to lead the team next season." Others have contended similar things ("give him one more year to right the ship and fire all of coordinators, what could it hurt?!?!"). I don't really care that you blindly hope that Miles can somehow right the ship for some unsubstantiated reasons.

What other reason do you fricking need other than he's the coach and I want LSU to win every game? Are you typing what you actually mean to type?
I thought he was gone, and I was fine with it. I was already blindly hoping that his replacement would right the ship, even having no clue who it would be. Do you need to know why I did that too?

Les is a lot smarter than what he has convinced people he is.
that's funny

He deserves to coach the 2016 squad that he reeled in a few years back.
so that means he deserves to coach forever because it'll always be his kids next year, cool

He deserves this opportunity to prove his mindset right.
and again and again and again fail

To me, winning the west is par. Obviously speaking of next season specifically.
you do realize that we are going to be severely outmanned by Bama again next season don't you? Unless we pull a Cam Newton from some JUCO somewhere real quick here, winning the west doesn't seem reasonable. Maybe some incredible never seen before turnaround occurs to Brandon Harris talent level and he suddenly becomes very accurate with good touch and the game slows way down for him and he suddenly gets some intuition for what is happening around him and down the field.

thing is, even if we would have had a new coach, that wouldn't change the players he has to work with. Sure, have to make some major tweaks to the offense, but going with a new coach things could have gone way south. Jimbo would have cost a lot of money for a guy who is no improvement and that Herman guy from Houston is to risky at this time.

He will continue to run the program in to mediocrity and people like you will continue to love him. It's sickening
What's sickening is that it's become a full-blown Les Cult now. Thanks to Alexander and Alleva's frick-ups, Les is bigger than the program now, not only to the simpletons who post here, but the sheeple throughout the LSU fanbase and Louisiana in general.
All this for a coach with a shitshow offense who backed into a natty almost a decade ago.

This is what concerns me. Maybe Les deserves to come back and get it right but the mindset needs to change in order for that to happen.

I think Les is smarter than some think only because some think he's Forrest Gump.
However, I've read several here and elsewhere that think he's this calculating like Columbo or something who is and has played all of us.
I never bought that and never will. I think he's somewhere in between the two extremes and is for the most part what we all see.

Not smart enough to beat Ole Miss, Arkansas or Alabama.

It is. The last time miles had a class this good going into their third year, 2011 happened.
Now that doesn't mean I expect us to win it all next season. I expect us to go 9-3 or so again.
