This is one other thing I haven't seen mentioned with regards to Chavis leaving. At 6% Chavis would make an extra $78,000 annually even if A&M offered the same 1.3 million that LSU was offering.

It's been mentioned quite a bit

Doesn't Chavis live in TN?
He would pay 6%
He would pay 6%

Do they have higher property taxes? Are you assuming he won't buy a house?

They take it out of you with property taxes in Texas though.

Didn't think TN had income taxes either.

He could just change his primary residence to Texas and keep his place in TN

I am assuming here that you aren't a CPA. What Texas gives up on income taxes they more than make up for in other taxes such as property taxes.

The most he'd have to do is change his primary address and get a Tejas driver's license.

I doubt he buys any property in Texas. He will rent an apartment in Texas as his primary residence. He will keep his property in Tennessee. I'm assuming you aren't a CPA, either. For the record, neither am I.
Is there a CPA in the building?

I don't think that's why he's leaving

Jindal had a plan to rid LA of its income tax and get competitive with Texas.
But Noooooooooo
But Noooooooooo

No way property taxes on even a 5 million dollar home are equivalent to 6% of 1.7 mil. Y'all are bad at math and economics.

This is very true. They get all of their money in property taxes.

Property taxes are proportionally cheaper on expensive properties. Income tax is progressive in that it affects higher income more. Not rocket science.

Did he buy a house in Baton Rouge?
