NFLN mentions “off field issues”

For Malik Nabers. Mentioned it twice. Tom Pelisaro on GMFN. How have we never heard this in 3 years yet these reports come out? I would have claimed exact opposite.
Found this:
“But, according to NFL Draft analyst Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, teams are worried about off-field issues for the talented wideout.
“The LSU junior is known as a high-maintenance prospect who may struggle in a big city. There are off-the-field questions Nabers has had to answer to during the draft process, and teams must feel comfortable with those answers if they’re going to invest an early draft pick and millions of dollars in his services,” Pauline wrote.

He had that gun issue last year but that was about it. Guessing that’s what got floated to Pelisaro, likely by a team hoping Nabors would drop to them
Pelisaro will report anything anyone tells him, he’s not really that plugged in

Is getting arrested not considered an "off field issue" these days?

These people have gone his entire career at LSU without caring to get it right, they're not gonna start now.

Why is the "big city" distinction important? If it is money issues (i.e. plenty of money to burn with much more things to burn it on in a bigger city) I get it. If it is the potential to get into some sort of criminal trouble I say Baton Rouge is a pretty good testing ground as to whether or not one can stay on the straight and narrow in a crime riddled area. Hell, if Nabers wanted to get involved with a criminal element all he had to do was literally walk three blocks outside the North Gates to find plenty of it. Given that he didn't, I suspect he could handle living in NYC...which has a lesser (per capita) violent crime rate than BR

We did hear about it. It was a fairly trivial gun charge. He was walking around on Bourbon and a cop spotted him CCing without a permit. I don't remember if the gun was registered to him or not but I think he ended up turning it in. Wasn't that big of a deal. CC is about to be legal in Louisiana anyway.

Going to go sepukku myself for such a dishonorable act

I guess im referring more to the “high maintenance prospect” which i think is complete BS. Dudes a practice hard play hard kid who never gave coaches trouble.

You probably should but not because it’s dishonorable to you, but because it’s such a stupid mistake to make and so easy to check.

Turning myself into the police station as we speak. Someone take care of my family.

He went 6th, why does this get your panties in a bunch?
He got caught with a gun illegally & still went 6th. Who cares he’s that good

Well it's likely for the "big cities" they were referencing. I'm assuming that use was intentional.
He does that in NY and he's going to jail (ask Plaxico Burress about that)
Most big cities have very restrictive laws on this

That doesn't have to mean anything legal. From my brief encounters, I can see Nabers being a little bit like OBJ in liking the spotlight which isn't necessarily good for football. OBJ never had any problems at LSU either until he got uber famous and now it's definitely impacted his football career. Doesn't mean he's a bad person. Brian Thomas seems more like Jarvis Landry as just a low key dawg which is definitely the personality you prefer putting together a football roster.

Giants play in NJ and practice in NJ, he will live in NJ like all their players do.
Now hes gonna go party in the big city for sure, who could blame him.
NYC is a great place to be young, rich and famous.

Yeah it was reported about when it happened and was definitely spotlighted on here. It is something in a few months he could not be arrested for. Malik Nabers is a 2A proponent. Good for him.

It’s all coming from one instance - carrying a gun in a “big city” during Mardi Gras. It’s baseless info that someone put out to try & get his stock to drop… probably Chicago Bears since they took a WR at 9#
