Here's what I found for the party...Depending on how much you plan on drinking, it can be a good deal.

Capital One Bowl has a New Year's Eve party at Universal Studios. Penn St's band performs at 2 and GBFTL performs at 3. Tickets are $59 and you can go to the park all day and then they party at night. You have to get the tickets through Capital One Bowl and tell them you are going to the tailgate party. Tickets to get into Universal are $80 if you go through anywhere else.

does that get you into the park all day and the event?

I saw that earlier and I thought you had to buy a park ticket and then buy that package on top of that??

a couple of buddies of mine went in last time but the rest of us wouldn't pay that amount. they said they stood in line for an hour or so to get one drink. maybe they've become more efficient since then?

No that's the entire thing. I called the Florida Citrus office and spoke with the receptionist a couple times today. She said that they need to send you a wristband along with your ticket and that it was not any extra, it was included in the price. This is the email that she sent me that had the notes that they gave her about the event:

$59 – 1 day, 1 park – save over $25 from the front gate price

$76 – 1 day, 2 park – save over $30 from the front gate price

$85 – 2 day, 2 park – save over $42 from the front gate price

**this ticket will NOT get them into the New Years Eve Tailgate

*ask if they will be attending the New Years Eve Tailgate event (12/31 – 7pm-11pm, a private Capital One Bowl VIP Tailgate party with happy hour prices, interactive games, discounted game day food and football game viewing on large screens). If they are, write that on the form so we know to send them a wrist band (this is very important). The tailgate is located at Universal Studio’s Classic Monsters Café and they must have a wrist band to attend.

*Tickets are good December 21th – January 4th

*Penn States’s marching band will be performing on 12/31 and 2pm and LSU’s marching band will perform 12/31 at 3pm

*The tickets are good for Islands of Adventure or Universal studios, but the NYE event and marching band performances will be at Universal Studios ONLY

*Tickets will be mailed out thru FedEx, we can NOT send to a PO Box

*$10 per order for shipping and handling

Do you need a ticket in advance? Or can you just go down there and pay to get in that night...

We're planning on spending dec 31st at Universal for all of this... then possibly sometime after the midnight stuff going and finding a bar.

What time do the bars in Orlando close and stop serving alcohol? Also, are there any bars/clubs still in downtown Disney? I had heard they closed them all.

Yea, all the bars/clubs closed on Pleasure Island I think last year. There's a thing called the City Walk that's right outside Universal Studios (99% sure it's literally right outside the gate) and most of their things close at 2 I believe. That's our plan.

Edit:

ok nevermind, just looked it up and it's $120 to get into the city walk because it has concerts and everything else going on that night...hmmmm....

Off to find Plan B...

If you're an out of towner and want a good party/gathering, the link this dude posted is where you want to be, no question about it.

If you have family, Disney, if you're single and wanna party, there isn't a place 1/10th as good as downtown that you wanna be on New Year's Eve.

There is also a block party on Wall Street in downtown Orlando...within a block from Church Street. Bars will be open until 3am, I believe.

Wall St. will be good, but the other block party on Church St. is where it's at. Don't go to Disney or Citywalk unless you want to have a shitty time and pay way too much for drinks.

Will it be hard to get downtown coming from the International Dr area that night?

It shouldn't be terribly hard to get to downtown from I-drive. Right up I-4. Just a little leery about driving back with everyone else.

I'm not sure if the Wall Street party attracts people that are slightly older than the Church Street party. I'll have to look into that. I've been out at both places and have enjoyed myself at both.
