You've been a pretty rational OR fan, what's your opinion of this?

Or did you already post it in here and I just didn't see it?

Wow...

Well, I hope it doesn't wind up hurting too bad.

But, if it goes down hill really fast, then we could always change your name to 'bisontiger'.

I hope the NCAA doesn't make too much of an example. We we're just little kids going that waded a little far in the deep end. Take pity on us.

In all honesty, what make me mad is that Oregon put out a good product. Lache Seastrunk was made for Chip's offense. It would honestly be a travesty if he went to LSU. He would look like a god in our offense.

This whole article is just catastrophic for Oregon. Lyles provides Yahoo Sports with extensive contemporaneous documentary evidence to back up his story, e.g., emails, handwritten notes/letters, phone records. Predictions: (1) LaMichael James will be declared ineligible, (2) Lache Seastrunck will be declared ineligible, (3) Chip Kelly resigns as Oregon Head Coach in the near future. I actually like Oregon, but this evidence is overpowering and is tied directly to those at the very top of the Oregon Football program.

Where is ducksflyinPAC now?

Kelly's antics in this whole thing is what will cause the ducks problems. Maybe not this season but you can bet probation is coming.

This is a good possibility but not etched in stone yet. We could still come out of this unscathed but it will be like Auburn all over again. At the very best Oregon exploited a gaping loophole.

Also, I doubt LMJ's eligibity becomes an issue. LMJ was recruited under Bellotti, btw. The NCAA doesn't consider him a booster until 2010, if there are major infractions.

If the allegations are true, I imagine Kelly will be in some serious hot water and pressured to step down.

Why would LMJ be deemed ineligible? The crux of their ineligibility would be if the NCAA deemed him a booster. If they deem LMJ ineligible a can of worms will be opened. You can't possibly think Oregon was the only one, right? I would scream bloody murder if LMJ is deemed ineligible. He was recruited in '07 well before any payment.

Anyone else get the feeling, from the way the money was handled and even the wording of the notes, that Oregon might have been a little bit new to the world of big-money, big time recruiting?

There's ways that big-time programs push the edges of recruiting rules, pretty much any powerhouse does it one way or another; the difference is those that have done it a long time know how to do it in ways that are much more deniable.

What strikes me about this story is that it seems to never have occurred to the folks at Oregon how this might look or that someone might actually come sniffing out the details, or even the notes, at some point.

I never said one thing abou thim being ineligible. You said under belotti. I was just simply saying CK was the oc. So one thing has remained constant. Chip. And This whole thing starts with lyles forming a relationship with kelly back in 07 with the recruitment of James. You seem pretty smart, im sure you can read.

just a little

It's right there in the story....One school requires constant updates and documentation and one school writes checks for 2 year old info

You we're piling on another posters comments that said he'd be ineligible. Yes, Chip was a coordinator at the time. A first year coordinator that never coached D1 football. My point about Bellotti is that he would have been overseeing his practices. I doubt thing turned "nefarious" until much later. Besides, his eligibility would be in question only if he received impermissible benefits from a booster. I doubt the NCAA deems him a booster from the inception of their contact.

I was replying to you. not the other poster. Lyles could be full of shite for all we know. But he states he picked kelly up from the airport. So between 2007 and now he had formed a relationship with Chip. Lyles says he thinks they were using him to influence kids, not using him for his recruiting services.

This could turn out to be nothing but a butt hurt lyles not receiving his payment.
