It's still so funny how for weeks after that, people said we lose the game if he drops it. Never mind the extra second we had to kick it, which could have been reviewed to be an extra 3-4 seconds. Doesn't matter now.

I was 20 rows up in that corner and went fricking crazy!

Anyone else having trouble with the video? It works great at first, but after Byrd catches the ball, I can't see him.

Was there

If I wasn't, I'm not sure I could decipher anything from that blurry arse video.

I never understood people's inability to grasp this.

Me too. What a ridiculous game.

ETA: Video makes me sad that Les refuses to do this kind of shite anymore.

My son chose to attend this game rather than his sophomore homecoming ... brought a friend with him who didn't want to go to homecoming. He was super glad with his decision!

Yep, people moaned and cried that Miles was too much of a gambler. Now they cry because he is too conservative.

I brought my wife (gf at the time). She is a Bama fan and was celebrating with me. The problem was she wore a light orange/peach shirt with jeans that could have been mistaken for Auburn colors, and was. She was so pissed by the end of the night from LSU fans tiger baiting and talking shite to her as if her team just lost. Nothing serious, and I think she was more mad at being assumed an Aub as a Bama fan.

What also funny is how lsu fans blame Miles for the time management when it was clearly Flynn's fault. The play call was in around 22 seconds and Flynn didn't snap the ball until about 6 seconds. But yes we still have about 2 seconds if Byrd drops it.

Here's a still blurry, but slightly clearer and longer version of the play that also shows an endzone view of Byrd catching it on his right side then twisting away from the DB as he falls... I have to imagine he twisted that way on purpose to minimize the chance the DB could dislodge the ball, which was a really smart thing to do in the split second he working with.

I agree it's weird how much flak Miles took for calling that play. It was a good call and it worked... and barring the refs screwing us (which regrettably can't be ruled out), there would've been time for a FG attempt. If any other popular team of the time (USC, Oklahoma, Ohio St, UF, etc. had run that play, it would've simply been a gutsy call by a gutsy team, executed perfectly-- end of story. With LSU, though, it was controversial and potentially dumb. Whatever.

Also, looking back at that play, and noticing that it looked like Auburn blitzed 2 linebackers, I'm glad Flynn didn't check out of that play and into a run. But I'm sure Harris will get better at knowing when to stay the course and when to change things.

I always thought the craziest part is not that he caught it...but how quickly he did his celebration. No hesitation, biggest play of the game, NBD.

When Les took chances and won, people were pissed at him. When he plays it conservative and wins, people are pissed at him. I don't think he has the tendencies that people see, except the desire to win and the uncanny ability to take calculated risks with his offense and defense to achieve those wins.
