Why do you need to be mobile in a Spread offense?

And it's weird to say you don't need mobile guy when Orgeron went out of his way to say you need mobile guy back there

He also said he wanted to recruit pro style quarterback hopefully from Louisiana.

Running spread doesn't necessarily mean running zone read like Auburn.

True but O did specifically say he believes a dual threat QB is a key to championship level success as part of the spread in today's college football.

Danny is not a statue like Mettenberg but it would be a stretch to say he's a "dual threat" QB.

So, YES....you can run a spread without a true dual threat QB but O did not stop there.

Etling can't hold Flynn and Mauck's jocks, apples and oranges.

If LSU is a spread team next year, and Scott is the best QB in practice, then he needs to start regardless of his lack of experience.

The only spread name I've heard even mentioned is briles and if he gets the job it'll be Etling. If kiffin comes it'll be Etling if Ensminger gets the job it'll be Etling.

There are many types of spread offenses.
The right coordinator could make it work with Etling.

You do know Etling is a better prospect and higher rated talent than Flynn and mauck by scouting services right? Didn't think so.

How they played in high school is irrelevant. Both Mauck and Flynn were better QB's in college and it's not even debatable. Flynn would have had great numbers at LSU had it not been for Jamarcus. Not to mention they were both decently mobile as to where Etling isn't.

Etling has a year of experience and is our best quarterback since 2013 (I realize that is not saying much). With another year to develop I think he will improve from average to decent. Then, in 2018, we can begin more of a dual threat approach. The timing actually works out well.

I see it being a close competion for starting qb position in 2017. Etling to me favors pro style

Not debatable? Etlings numbers are better than flynns so yea I'd say facts prove it is. Not once did I mention high school Scouts say he's more talented he throws it better than both and runs as good. His qb rating under coach o is the same as tommy Hodsons 2nd best season. If you avg his numbers out over a full season his passing yardage is better than flynns his ypg is better and his passer rating is 10pts higher.
Flynn 125.8
Etling 135.8
This is after 2 years on the team for Flynn it was his 5th year.

Yet Flynn never shite the bed against bama. End of story. Threw some picks but man did he make some big boy throws instead of shitting himself.

No - he's clearly the best QB we have.

That's fair to say with this season's offense, but what if we change over to a power spread with a LOT more qb runs.

Harris definitely gives you more creativity in that regard. Even with his accuracy issues.

It's a good possibility. You might want to start thinking about how you want to end your life.
