you can run a spread without a true dual threat

We'll absolutely you can. But the guys that we are looking at, besides kiffin, HIGHLY prefer DT guys to run the great option. You going to completely take that out of the new OCs playbook?

I don't think so.

This fan base is so fricking stupid.

All we've done is bitch gripe and complain about qb play past few years and we finally get a guy that plays with poise and moves the offense and you dumbfricks want him replaced or "upgraded"

All I can do is laugh.

Not debatable? Etlings numbers are better than flynns so yea I'd say facts prove it is

Etling has had more playing time than Flynn due to circumstance. Flynn spent multiple years in the NFL. Etling would be lucky to spend one year on a practice squad.

If you avg his numbers out over a full season his passing yardage is better than flynns his ypg is better and his passer rating is 10pts higher.

Average his numbers over a full season? He played in every game except the opener against Wisconsin.

Saying that LSU wants to implement a spread system doesn't necessarily mean zone read or running QB.

Well said sir. Take a bow.

Why should this be his last game? He's decent at throwing the short ball which is all the spread passing game is about. Unless he gets beat out during the summer, I see no reason to replace him with a dual threat who can't pass up to par.

Enjoy the downvote homes.

He gets everybody lined up right, does the things they ask him to do, gives them the best chance at victory.

Etling has started 9 games Flynn 13 so no he hasn't started one game short of a full season he's 4 games short. He has better ypg and better qb rating. Sorry facts prove your opinion wrong. Using the NFL is the dummest comparison you could make since one of em is still in college. Etling has preformed better than Flynn that's a fact there's no disputing it.

Yet Flynn never shite the bed against bama. End of story. Threw some picks but man did he make some big boy throws instead of shitting himself.

I liked Flynn but he threw 3 interceptions against a Alabama team that finished 7-6 and lost to ULM. You want to compare that to Etling playing the #1 ranked and undefeated (more that likely National Champions)?

shite himself? Do you watch the games? He was hit or rushed on 21 of 24 throws!!!! We didn't lose the bama game because Etling missed 3 throws Flynn faced a 7-6 Alabama team so that comparison isn't equal in any universe. But hey don't let facts stop you from putting your opinion first.

Nope, Danny Etling should start next year

Why should he?

Why not have a competition over the offseason and if one of the younger guys looks ready split time with the hope the the younger QB wins the job? Next year looks like a rebuilding year and with the schedule being highly unfavorable, it may be worth it to groom the QB of the future instead of going 8-4 or 9-3 with Etling and then starting over in 2018.

Whatever happens, if O follows Miles' philosophy of giving the starter 98% of the meaningful snaps and has a completely green qb in '18, I'm going to put my truck in drive, lay down in front of it and let it drive over my ballsack.

I'm sure they'll be open competition it happened during the season no reason for it to stop now. Having said that Etling will win any competition with the QBS currently on the roster or the ones coming in. That's why we are saying he'll be the starter.

you don't need to be

but O has made it clear he wants a mobile QB

also, Brennan is surprisingly mobile watching highlights

He's also said he wants a pocket passer but Etling is mobile so ppl need to get it through their thick skulls Danny Etling will start and be successful at QB for LSU next season.

The problem is the offensive line and play calling when things get tight the QB did fine and better than anyone expected.

the OL issues are a myth. The OL this year was consistently one of the top in the country. They essentially had one bad game vs Bama, per usual.

he didn't say he wanted a pocket passer. He said they needed it for this current team that he took over this year. That has nothing to do with what he wants for the future.
