Some guy from the 70’s? If so, what are the true stories on why him?

”Art Cantrelle is pure evil, formed of twisted blue steel and raised in the smoldering fires of hell.

‘When Cantrelle entered a bar, everyone knew him and they either left or all walked over to the other side of the room. That's how bad Art was.”

Cantrelle.

My mom dated him at LSU - I've heard some interesting stories.

Is this the thread where we all are suppose to pretend people like George Atiyeh, Greg Cook, Eric Andolsek, Alan Faneca wouldn't have b_tch slapped Art Cantrell in front of his girlfriend.

No, just think it's the thread where someone asked who had a reputation back in the day.

Lol.

Art Cantrelle facing any of those would have been like Bob Odenkirk’s character Hutch Mansell in Nobody. He’d have had deuce-seven unsuited tattooed on the inside of his wrist with the cards facing outward—the hole cards his opponent would have drawn.

Any of those dudes facing Art Cantrelle would have quickly realized they’d been dealt the worst possible hand they could have been dealt.

Yeah, I don't think it's far fetched at all to think Art could handle some of those guys in a bar fight.

We were down for a basketball game having a few pre game drinks & saw Cantrelle one punch KO somebody his own size. His attitude stood out . If you want action, you got it.

Will keep repeating this story : one afternoon, the EBRPSO by The Keg got a call that Cantrell was raising hell there. My friend, a John Candy clone, was a rookie deputy & when the other 4 deputies turned & left the building, he volunteered to see what the problem was. Art was playing the pinball machine...they paid off back then...and when my friend announced himself, Cantrell turned, holding the machine up in the air. As he started approaching my friend, he started swinging the machine like a weapon. My friend eased himself back out of the room. Art put the machine on the floor & continued playing. All the guys mentioned here were tough as hell & quite possibly could knock Art on his arse. But he would get back up, again & again.

Crazy and tough can only take you so far. I'd put every penny I own on George Atiyeh in that bar fight. I sat across from Atiyeh at the lunch table in Broussard Hall once. He had a buzz cut at the time. It was intimidating as hell. Atiyeh was also a 2-time SEC Champion wrestler. I went to a fundraiser in 2008 and talked to a guy that played against Atiyeh when he was a center in the SEC. He told me that Atiyeh was the stongest player he ever competed against. The guy was NFL Hall of Famer Dwight Stephenson.

Knowing Eric, yeah he could have, but he would not put himself in that situation. He was one of the nicest guys. Same I would suppose with Faneca after meeting him on a few occassions. For him, I suspect being rough and violent ended on the field.

Jeff Wickersham, though, could throw with the best of them.
