Any coach that has ever been a successful coordinator or head coach. Thats why so many people are pissed. This is the most unqualified hire in recent sec history. Please show me the career position coach that got hires as hc at big 6 program.

The point is you INTERVIEW coaches who are currently successful at mid-range programs to see if someone stands out.

Sure he'd go to LSU over Purdue

We have a coach so it is pointless to whine about it. The OC hire is now all that matters.

From what we have seen from O we will getting much the same as we had. Fisher or Herman would have had the job if they wanted it. After that O was the next choice. I hope I'm wrong but I believe we will be looking again in 2 to 3 years.

bullshite. Those guys have actually ran a successful side of the ball. Ed orgeron has never done that.

I would say Gundy, Fleck, Fedora Taggart, and maybe the coach at Colorodo just to name a few.

We know O is a great recruiter and has done pretty well as an Interim. Played number 0ne team in the country to 10 points and if running back doesn't blow the play beats Florida.

Even if O flops, the well won't be dry with talent when we can line an A lister up.

TigerGman, there are only a handful of "A" listers, and Jimbo may have been the only one willing to listen. THere are numerous B listers who have earned their shot at an "A" job. Ask yourself this: which SEC team would hire Orgeron as their Head Coach today without interviewing any B listers? Maybe Vandy and Kentucky? If that.

I think you start by expanding the "search" beyond 3 candidates. Who knows who we could have gotten but we'll never ever know because JA decided to use half a football season to come up with 2 people he knew he wasn't going to pay what it would take to get & O.

Ed orgeron is a z lister. He wouldnt get interviews for coordinator jobs at bama, ohio state, usc. Hell lsu didnt even want him as dc.

Of someone else was doing the negotiations, are you so sure we couldn't have gotten Herman or maybe Jimbo?

Don't give me that crap. A defensive line coach who failed when he had a chance at Ole Miss is the absolute best that the LSU administration could have given us? Give me a break.
