Name a coach which we could have gotten, that would be more accepted than O?

Repeat - which we could have gotten

Based on what is out there and who rejected our offers, we made the best remaining choice. Bottom line, Les' unwillingness to change his OC set us back who knows how far.

I believe, based on inconsistent reports as to what was offered to whom, LSU had no intention of paying an elite coach $6-7 million (i.e. what it takes) to come here.

They need to create the perception that they were willing to, but in the end it's not politically expedient to for people like King who is trying to change LSU's culture, and other political types on the BOS.

Evidence? 1. The nutrition center relegated to a floor in the stadium due to a "climate of austerity" LINK; 2. Les Miles situation last year; 3. LSU'S ENTIRE HISTORY OUTSIDE OF MARK EMMERT

What do you think was offered to whom?

I don't believe for a second LSU offered Jimbo Fisher the job for $6.8 million... We'll see what he gets out of FSU, though, I suppose.

Reported LSU balked at Herman for countering at 6.

With that logic, when Dinardo was fired, we should have promoted one of his assistants. Saban would have never come here. The point is you INTERVIEW coaches who are currently successful at mid-range programs to see if someone stands out. I have not seen any report that any head coaches were interviewed. It's really mind-blowing. I hope O is successful. I just hate the (non) process Alleva used because we'll never who was out there.

I am grateful for Coach O, but there are a bunch of idiots on this board who would rather lose 63 to 58 than win 21 to 14 ,some of them under stand what a touch down is but other than that they don't have a clue whats going on !

LSU'S ENTIRE HISTORY OUTSIDE OF MARK EMMERT

It's amazing that Emmert gave LSU the blueprint to success, and the current administration has just done the opposite. Even our biggest rival feels the same way Emmert did, and it's paying off big time for them. Alabama's president has said the $7M investment in Saban is the best investment his university could ever possibly make. But our president is worried about the perception that spending private donor money on football will have on the legislature. King Alexander and Alleva, moreso Alexander, are the worst things to happen to LSU in the last decade; and they need to go immediately.

We would have had Herman. We don't because of a million dollars a year

I can't believe we told Herman to pack sand in exchange for Coach O

Well, hiring Saban at any price was a no brainier. Even the Gumps could figure that out...

No doubt at all Alexander needs to go.

All I can say right now about Alleva is that I have a gut feeling he "lucked into" Coach O.

Don't know since Alleva never truly did a search to find out.

I would say Gundy, Fleck, Fedora Taggart, and maybe the coach at Colorodo just to name a few.

I would at least gauged their interest in the job. If interested and atleast interview a few before just giving the job to your D-line and interm coach.

That is my point. Because Alleva did not have a real search, we will never know.

You sound like the type of person who calls anyone crazy who values the 2nd amendment for the purposes of preventing government tyranny, ignoring the fact that tyranny has resulted from every government in human history.

This is LSU's history.

None of those guys are A listers and if anyone had been hired the same number of Rantards would be jumping off the ledge.

We know O is a great recruiter and has done pretty well as an Interim. Played number 0ne team in the country to 10 points and if running back doesn't blow the play beats Florida.

Even if O flops, the well won't be dry with talent when we can line an A lister up.
