Had a meeting today with a guy from Oklahoma. He walks in, we exchange greetings and then he sees my LSU bag tag and asks, "who is the Tiger fan"?

I own up to it pretty damn quick cause I I figure he may be a Sooner fan. Then he says, "ya'll got one hell of a coach."

I knew he was an OSU Cowboy at that point. Then he says, "Les is one of the best recruiters there is. Its all in the way he deals with people."

This guy didn't play football, he was on a tennis scholly to Okie St. but he said he was around coach Mile often and was always impressed with how he treated people."

I didn't say much until he finished what everything he had to say. It was a nice conversation, especially when you initially think you're about to talk smack to a Boomer Sooner.

That's it. Fire away with those "Cool Story Bro" pic bombs.

Dude, you know the Rant rules.

If you can't link a video, it didn't happen.

If someone said something good about Les, it didn't happen.

If you don't hate Les for firing our undefeated, unchallenged and infallible deity of coaching then YOU SUCK!

J/K - Sounds about right for anyone that has actually met the man.

Miles is a very nice man.

Telling his buddies that have been assistants to look for other jobs, telling The Wizard to look for another job and running off current players to be able to sign a blue chip recruit are indications he has learned that nice guys don't win mulliple SEC Championship and crystal balls.

I hope coaching in the SEC, at LSU doesn't make him completely turn to the dark side.

Only reason it stuck with me and I posted was because it was an unexpected conversation. I was more geared up, at that moment, for some 03 BCS trash talk, something about LSU being some lucky bastards or possibly a shot about LSU losing in Little Rock (our mtg was in NW Arkansas).

Everything you just mentioned, minus the oversigning comment, is part of the business. If you have a sales rep at a company that isnt getting the job done and is worse than the competition, you aren't going to keep him around to be nice. I'm sure Miles would have loved to keep Crowton around. At least he gave him to find another job and did't just fire him like so many other schools do. I'd say he did as good of a job as any in that aspect.

As far as the oversigning, I wouldn't blame just Miles. It is wrong to do but every coach in the nation does it or else they fall behind. Thankfully, it has become a big issue and hopefully it will get better.

Yeah, he could have taken that shot too. But, the only thing he wanted to tell me was how impressed he was with coach Miles.

If that guy would have said that Miles was a p*ick you would have had a couple dozen of the Miles haters jumping in within 5 minutes.

Thanks for sharing the truth.

As with most coaches, you should follow this more.

In my 40's...

A former college coach...

I follow sports...

Miles handled his departure from OSU poorly and that's why he wasn't allowed to address his team(OSU) when he left...

Just my opinion of course, but I am also a university employee that relies on recruiting and success for my continued employment. So I say this, if you are a former college coach, you have given us all the information we need. Your opinion of Les is that of a FORMER coach. I hope you have success selling insurance.
