I could see him being a possible closer next year if he can control it a little.

He's got closer stuff. Like you said, control is the issue. If he improves on that, I could definitely see him as a back end of the bullpen type, and a very good one. I think that's his role going forward

First, and foremost, a closer has to throw strikes. Godfrey is not a closer. If he gets his control problems fixed, then he's a hell of a starter.
The closer next year will almost certainly be Stallings. I think you will see that he will come back next year with three pitches - a dominant fastball, a change, and a slider - and hitters won't be able to sit on that fastball. If he can get the secondary pitches going he will be a dominant closer.
