Our 3rd starter threw a 1 run CG agaisnt Southern, I wouldn't necessarily say we don't have a 3rd guy.

Do you really call him your third guy when he has only 52 IP on the year? State has 5 guys that have started 8 or more games. No doubt that was a great game for him, but even with that game, he still has a 4.44 ERA on the season and 37 BBs. and a 2-3 record. Your bullpen is also paper thin. I don't think you'd expect him to throw a complete game again

Lets be real here. MSU has a good chance of getting the first game win. Everyone knows that we are favored to win in every game this weekend but we also know that these dogs have teeth. Props out to one heck of a competitive MSU team. They are tough as hell.

As long as our pitching stays on point, we should be Omaha bound.

This will make game 1 very tough. The kid is really good and won't be bothered by our environment

yea, in spite of what many rantards are saying, this is going to be a very tough series. it ain't gonna be as easy as Starkville was.

State is a fundamentally strong baseball team that plays excellent defense and can hit very well. their pitching situation, resulting from injuries, seems to have stabilized and they will be pumped up with the chance to go to Omaha.

I don't think this will be a cake walk by any means.

Obviously State is a talented team and could very well take two out of three this weekend in the box.

I just don't think it will be as close as a lot of other people think and I keep going back to that game 5 of the regional.

USM Brought back their ace after throwing 90 pitches in game 1 of the regional (Don't remember what day they played it with all the rain) and it still took 3 bad news bears dropped pop ups for state to win that game.

I know they have good momentum coming out of the regional and certainly will play loose and give it there all I just think LSU takes it pretty comfortably when its all said and done.

The same Rantards that are thinking this will be a cake walk will be the same ones complaining about how bad we suck and how bad our coaching is when the games are tight. Every team playing this weekend is playing good baseball and is a quality team.

Mississippi State is a great team and should not be taken lightly.

LSU's motivation is for bigger things this year. "Championships"

Everyone expecting us to cruise to two easy wins is kidding themselves. We better be ready for a fight this weekend in every game.

The sad thing about the whole situation is LSU clearly has the staff to actually compete in Omaha this year. If we come out flat and lose this series that's a damn shame MSST has absolutely no chance to win it all this year with the format in Omaha. Hopefully Paul gets the boys going, he knows the natives are getting restless about the whole "post season" shite

Oh, so that's your third starter now?

Got to admit, he pitched a damn fine game. Who knows, MSU may have found lightning in a bottle and discovered a solid 3rd starter in their final regional game. Or it may just have been a flash in the pan.

Welfare from dropped fly balls aside, MSU has shown that they are as scrappy as they come and with weapons like Rooker in the line up, can probably take down anyone on a given day. Tigers better bring their A game.

Why is that sad? That's pretty much always been the case for LSU in the Super Regionals under Mainieri, save for last year.

I'd pitch Pilkington against Poche in game 2 if I were Moo State. They would be the favorite in that game. We were actually hitting Pilkington very good early last time we faced him...the ball was just hit right at guys on defense. We started really getting to him later in the game though.

If Lange is on like he has been(besides last game vs Texas Southern)...they don't stand a very good chance at all regardless of who they pitch. jmo.

It took some getting used to in Mississippi hearing people say "Southern" and not mean SU.
