Most disappointing season ever?

I can't think of another season where we've been so talented at so many positions and underachieved so much. Faulk's senior year in 1998 might be close, but this one is worse in my opinion. We've been an average program since 2012 whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Let's hope we hit a homerun with this new hire in a few weeks, or it could get a lot worse.

1998 was way more disappointing. Preseason #6, returned almost our entire team from 1997, and we go 4-7. Lou Tepper turned an outstanding defense into one of the worst in the country with the same players.

There were no preseason high expectations during the hallman years. 8 wins at that time was considered a success.

It's up there with the greatest fails

If a certain someone sees this, they're going to come in here saying "what? Les averaged over 9 wins since 2011, we was ranked, facts, facts, FACTS!!!! Omergerd!"

Maybe not the most disappointing ever but it's top 5. All on our administration. The season that could have been.

Nothing will ever top 2012. We would have gone down as the greatest team in college history had we just been able to score a TD

What were the expectations with Harris as the QB and Miles and Co. realistically going in?
If you were expecting a natty I think it was a fail on whoever expected such high things.
I think most knew it was a 8,9 or maybe 10 win season at best.

It's all subjective isn't it? Depends on how much emotion you personally put into a team. Sometimes you just get attached to particular players and coaches no matter their skill or expectations. The last two years have sucked though. What are we at 9 losses last 2 years as of today? For me, this two year stretch blows.

This whole season was unfortunately a throw-away due to this crappy administration. Les was on borrowed (and overdue) time. He teased us with the change mantra once again so given the talent and experience it was easy for some to fall for. But like Lucy pulling away the football it was another ploy.
So finally the inevitable decision was made a few games in, the staff had to be selected from the folks on hand, and became what it is. I was hoping to win out and play in the Sugar Bowl for the players and program, hang on to our current and secure some additional much needed recruits, and then secure a quality, long term solution to the coaching staff issue no later than after the bowl games.
Now we get to hope for a win next week and in a lower tier bowl and sweat bullets over the coaching selection.

This team will be nothing until we have an established or at least a decent QB and a competent offensive coordinator.
If you expect to compete in the SEC, much less a playoff spot you're fooling yourself.

Been going to Tiger Stadium since I was 5 years old which was back in 1966 so been through my share of bad and disappointing seasons. Not the worse this year , but certainly disappointing and ranks in the top 10 when you had playoff aspirations before the season started.

Losing Badger in 2012 was the biggest kick in the nuts I've endured as a fan. This season is definitely up there with White, Beckwith, and co. giving up millions to try to win a natty. However, 2012 was supposed to be THE year. We just managed to pull it together a year early in 2011.

Nope...what about 2004 under Saban; the Jamie Howard years; or even 2012 when the Honey Badger would have probably won us the Bama game...we've actually done well considering our coach was fired mid-season - how many times do you see that happen and the team still have a successful year?
