Why do people think Harris is so great? I get that he's talented, but it hasn't translated to the field yet. That could, and should, change this year.

It's just the hip thing to do to bash Lee/Jefferson all because of how 2011 ended.

quote:

QB 2011? those guys were bad. That entire offense had inflated statistics

And Harris has the best RB to ever step foot in TS lining up behind him and yet struggles to complete 50% of his passes.

Why does he use the 2011 team's in-season accomplishments to compare them to a team that hasn't played a snap yet? But then he doesn't do it universally.

He uses Lee's efficiency and Mingo and Montgomery's All-Americans, etc, to prop up 2011's QBs and DEs. But the 2016 DT group is better because Brockers was only a sophomore? Brockers was the 14th overall pick that year.

Pick one side or the other. Probably would be best to compare the 2011 team's preseason expectations to the 2016 team. Or at least consistently use 2011 production for every prediction, if that's what you want to do.

Good break down by Mascona. This is our year to make a run for the NCG.

Looks right to me. If you think Brandon Harris was good last year, go watch some tape. I like the kid, and he has more upside than either 2011 guy, but he has not produced like either of them.

One of the main reasons I stopped listening, that and the fact that I realized Matt is kind of tough to listen to, especially when Theriot comes on

Would you rather Jefferson/Lee or Brandon Harris start this year? I don't think you can answer Jefferson/Lee with a straight face.

I guess I'm the only person that remembers Lee leading the SEC in QB efficiency through 8 games. The revisionist history that happens here regarding our QB play that year is pretty comical. The three biggest games had dud performances by the QBs (mostly Jefferson obviously), but there was a lot of good QB play for the first 2/3 of the season. ETA: Nice to see I'm not he only person that remembers.

I remember. I also remember that he still has some pretty anemic numbers, especially early in the season. He was good enough, and was much improved over the few horrible performances of his Soph and Junior seasons.

I also remember that Harris was also among the SEC leaders in pass efficiency through the first half of the season as a Soph. Given time, he should be at least as good. Probably better.

You should fix yours.

2011: 2135 21tds 5int 62% completion. JJ rushed for 330 yards and 3 tds.

Give me that from Harris and LSU wins the sec last year.

This isn't even debatable.

She's still there, but she just chimes in from time to time. But I guess you just should completely shut off your radio cus I can think of loads of commercials and other people who are just as annoying.

but based on this, he's a knucklehead. "

I DO listen to him(have for years) and judging him to "knucklehead" based on one article is horseshite. He has the best sports radio show in BR in my opinion-and I listen to the majority. He has his own show on ESPN Radio in a prime 3 hour slot-this is no knucklehead.

The 2011 QB group is better than they get credit for here. The problem is mostly that it was a split group, and neither QB could survive without the other one. Because they had so much experience though, the coaches knew how to adjust for their flaws, making them deadly efficient.

quote:

Lee was over 60 pct with 14 tds and 3 ints facing the hardest schedule lsu ever had while splitting time and not playing at the end of the season.

Add to that, Jefferson was a very dangerous scrambler and runner back there. When Bama shut down Lee in the first game, Jefferson came in and negated the pressure with his mobility.

I'm very high on Harris' potential, but we haven't seen him do it vs bigtime opponents yet. If someone can shut him down (like Bama did Lee), we don't have a backup that runs a totally different offense to plug in, like we did in 2011.

I can easily answer 2011 Lee with a straight face.

Moscona has the football IQ of my wife but he has a radio show do people think he is smart. We don't have a DT who is a top round pick and both in 2011 start in the NFL. Yet he gives the edge to 2016 because they are older?!?

He wasn't #1 in efficiency in the SEC?

He wasn't benched for JJ because he sucked?
He wasn't even given a tryout n the NFL?
He didn't surrender against Bama and lose the respect of the team?

I explained why he had good stats, the running game and defense made the passing game go, not the QB. All the QB had to do was play pitch and catch with wide open receivers and no pass rush. Sure Lee was good enough to do that. So what? Your narrative of stupid coaches costing us a natty be ause they benched a productive QB for a favorite is hackneyed and spurious. But if it serves you as a pacifier...
