Listening to AFR on the app while driving in Fort Meyers. Ryan Clark was speaking on the coaching changes and said " my only concern is that the staff is becoming older and whiter"( or at least I think that's what he said).

Can anyone confirm? Cell signal was terrible and the app went off line for about two minutes right after he made the comment. When the app came back up they were discussing something else.

Pretty much what was said. Was coming at it from a recruiting angle not a racism angle.

Probably exactly what he said. I’m sure you’re well aware that blacks are allowed to be racist.

Thanks. Was there any discussion of the topic or did they just move on?

Yes he said that. He also prefaced the comment by saying he wasn't being racist.

He has a fear that these old white dudes won't be able to relate to young inner city athletes whom 90% of the team is composed of. Also worries if Linehan can recruit.

Then countered with the fact that Kevin Faulk should be a great recruiter if given the RBs coach job.

Or, you know, we can all deal in reality and perhaps acknowledge that 16-18 year old black kids might prefer to be recruited by younger black guys as opposed to older white guys. It's sales, and you have to have the right salesman for the job. Ever wonder why almost all pharmaceutical sales reps are attractive women? Because that's who the doctors want to talk to, not some old dude.

If Clark was saying that we need more black coaches because we don't have enough "diversity" or the room is "too white", then that's one thing. But I'm pretty sure he's coming from the angle of what's going to be best for LSU and recruiting.

This. Brady was seen as being young and fresh. The players probably felt that they could relate more easily to him.

Linehan is old and stale.

Wasn't he let go from his last 3 coaching gigs? That doesn't instill a lot of confidence.

saying that old white dudes cant relate to inner city kids is not only stupid but racist. if a player like jacob hester or matt flynn said something like a black coach cant relate to the white player everybody would have lost their minds. Ryan Clark should just not go down that rabbit hole.

this must be the reason LSU is always one of the worst in recruiting. it's because of all the whites. oh, wait...

Better be careful....this thread will get wacked.....I started one on this subject now it’s gone. If you want to know who rules this country, just see who you are not allowed to criticize.

Yes, RC said that but I didn’t take it as being a race issue at all.

Yes, it is actually because the racial profile of the team literally has not changed.

So replacing white coaches with white coaches is getting whiter? I like RC but he probably should have just kept the white comments to himself.

I'm not shocked most of you idiots took it that way. I took it as him saying mainly as the staff was getting to old.

What all you race baiters are leaving out is what he said about Brady being younger and could relate, but it's better to focus on the BS!

I know some of you loudmouths that are up in arms can't believe a 50yr old white guy wouldn't be able to relate to 18yr old black kid. The thought of that is just absurd lol!

But as usual race plays on this board.

Exactly. STeve E has been one of our top recruiters for years and he’s an old white guy. Something to be said for sending your kid off to college to play for “Father figure” like coaches. Moms like that
