By now, you’ve no doubt read numerous articles, interviews, and social media posts excoriating the College Football Playoff committee for its unprecedented decision to leave out an undefeated conference champion. The palpable anger radiating from Tallahassee has been met nationwide from college football fans who see the devastating impact on Florida State and the sport in general.

Justified though it is, this article is not about that anger or the future ramifications on the field. It isn’t about the blatant walk-backs and hypocrisy from numerous ESPN personalities.

This article is about a dangerous precedent that was just set by the committee and supporting media. It is about the significant negative impacts that are often invisible on the surface.

It is about choosing money over the mental health of student-athletes.

We have to eliminate scoring and championship games all together and just award participation trophies to make that writer happy.

If they left Bama out, we would have to worry about the physical health of those living near pods of Bama fans. I’ll take the mental health woes of Tallahassee over the carnage that would have plagued the streets if Bama was out.

That is essentially what we do for the media darlings, especially Bama. Their dynasty is built on mulligans and narrative changes other programs would NEVER get.

If you don't think that doesn't frick with the heads of the teams and players that get fricked over for them, then you are sadly mistaken.

While we do live in a snowflake filled world, I get what the writer is saying here. Look at the comment from the QB for starters. What a bunch of BS to blame a kid for getting hurt in a sport where the same committee and media praises Bama for taking cheap shots on QBs.

Well poor little FSU. I think they were jobbed this year, but no more so than ND was in 1993 when ND finished #2 behind FSU in final polls, even though ND defeated FSU head-to-head during the season (both had one loss at season's end). If your mental health suffers because of these events, then you already had a mental health problem and probably shouldn't pay attention to sports you don't actively participate in and have no control over.

The mental health aspect of precedent is a weak one in my opinion.

The precedent it does strongly set in the lives of these young adults is one that says "screw fairness and rule of law, do what you think is good for you and to hell with others."

It is no wonder that young adults are so detached from reality. They have wonderful models to follow in those they seek to emulate.

If you read the article, I think the guy makes a good point RE Travis and his tweet that “he wish he broke his leg earlier in the season”. Basically, the committee put his injury down as the reason for not selecting Florida State.

Precedent for what? There will be an expanded playoff moving forward. They just got screwed is all. Another eyeball test, it's certainly happened before.

This guy never played even a game of tiddlywinks in his life.

Unable to distinguish any life lessons if failures AND success.

What I think will happen is that the same precedent will follow in the seeding of teams 1-12 that favors some and not others, as well as to provide matchups that favor the networks and generate money. It's not going to be straight- up fair, I guarantee you that.

There is going to be a lot of bitching for sure.

If LSU was in the same exact position as Bama this year and got left out could you imagine the bitching and moaning from LSU fans?

We’ve basically expanded the playoff from four teams to six.

You can count on OSU, Mich, Bama, USC, OU, and ND to be in every year. The rest are fighting for the remaining six slots for the opportunity to play those teams.
