Missing LSU games because of weddings

I'm surprised I haven't seen multiple threads on the subject yet. There is normally quite a few around this time every year.
If someone I know has a wedding during football season on a Saturday they obviously didn't want me to come.
This is how I am about LSU games:
"A man had 50 yard line tickets for a LSU game.
As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty.
He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there.
"No," the man replied, "The seat is empty."
"This is incredible," said the first man.
"Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the LSU game, the biggest sporting event in the state and not use it?"
The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away.
This will be the first LSU game we haven't attended together since we got married in 1967."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?"
The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral.""

I was the best man for an out of state wedding last year (im the only LSU fan, they are gator fans) the same night as the Alabama game. I bitched and whined so much that they moved the wedding back a week to an away game. I took the groom to LSU Bama and to NOLA after on my dime as a thanks.

No LSU oriented family should ever...ever...schedule a damn wedding on a home game weekend. And if you do it on an away game weekend, for God's sake, broadcast the damn thing on television.

I agree. I say anyone who violates that rule is already begging for the divorce. The only couple I've ever known to do that are divorced.

Anyone that has a wedding during football season is asking for low attendance. They should know better.

Good one.
I have no problems with it for shite games and away games.

There were many pictures of my sister's wedding. It was the night of the Auburn game in 2005.
There are several pictures at the alter where you can see the several groomsmen looking down and checking their phones for updates!
There really is nothing you can do about the LSU mania. Glad to be a part of it!

My niece was careful to plan her wedding the week after the final home game. Seems she forgot about the SEC Championship game...

I was forced to miss the LSU vs Idaho game because of my nieces wedding. I think that was the opponent, it's been a few years. But anyways, once the reception got started, I spent the majority of the reception at the corner table eating meatballs and jambalaya while watching a live stream of the game on my iPhone. By the second quarter some folks caught on to what I was doing and I had 5 people I didn't even know sitting with me.

Nephew got hitched last year on a Saturday night. There were several rooms at the reception venue which was a country club. Most men folk were in the room with the big screen watching the game, which pissed the bride and her mother off. Badly. Off went the tv, out came the smart phones. Figured I was never going to see the brides family again anyway so wtf.
My wife and I were married on October 29, but it was in the 70s. Not much tv. Honeymoon lasted till the following Thursday so I could get back in time for deer season open and hunting with her dad. Been married now for 38 years. They get over it.

Same here....only wedding I've been to during LSU game was vs bama in early 2000s...bride was notre dame alum...her mom wouldn't let there be a tv anywhere on the floor of reception hall at hotel
