This Cook guy from FSU is a speedster we need for returns and a change of pace. Wasn't LSU in the mix for his recruitment?

LSU has tried recently to bring in a scat back but it hasn't worked out.

Jeryl Brazil was a jackass and couldn't stay out of trouble

Sione Palelei was committed but switched to Oklahoma St.

LF ran a 10.6 100

Cook ran a 10.4 100

Jk cook runs a 10.9

Looks like we got our scat back

Forreal doe

We had a 10.2 100 world class sprinter as a scat back last year. He got arrested multiple times and got kicked off the team. Jeryl Brazil

Cook would not be good with the way we pass. Do you see the lanes that the pass is opening up for him

Cooks is great. But he wouldn't have been used correctly here. He gets the ball between the tackles, but for the most part FSU spreads it out and gives him the ball in space and passes out of the backfield. FSUs "power" RB is not playing tonight so Cooks is getting all the reps. But they have an offensive scheme that plays to his strengths and they are using him the right way.

We would have used him the same way we have used LF, Hill, Magee, Ridley, Keiland, Scott, etc. We use all our RBs the same, regardless of their skill set (and Les alwyas gets guys with a certain skill set.... Power down hill runners). The way Les uses a scat back is how we used Michael Ford, which is extremely predictable.

And go look at our track record with scat backs.... we have had all purpose / scat back types of RBs with Les and have had little to no success. If we ran a diff style of offense, including last years offense, I would agree. But we don't run that much to the outside or get our RBs involved in the passing game. We use them between the tackles and do it a lot. If you can't do that for us in the SEC, you won't play. That simple.

Scatbacks are generally small. Cooks is like 5'11 200lbs

Yea, I'm not sure why Cook falls under the "scat back" category. When I see scat back I think of a small quick Sproals type player. Cook is the size of a normal running back. I mean if Cook is a scat back, does that make Guice one two? Pretty sure he's smaller than Cook at this stage.

Edit: ESPN has him at 6'1 200, and 247 has him at 6' 200.

The dude is 6'1" and over 200 lbs and he's a freshman. He ran over guys tonight. He has strength and acceleration. He's more than a change of pace or scat back. He's really a total package. Dude runs between the tackles, catches out of the backfield, and can get to the edge.

31 carries tonight. 5.7 yards per tote.

ETA: dude was a 5-star recruit, for Pete's sake

Makes sense. Les needs a rb to bring in to run the short side option again.

If Les had Darren Sproles on this team he wouldn't use him properly. Les has never thrown to the HB out of the backfield, been able to teach the team to properly execute a HB screen pass, or used the toss sweep. A scat back would be a wasted career at LSU right now.

Just the facts. We all know it.
