This kid seems to show up in big games. TR tendency to wait for the hole to open will not work with Mingo in the backfield all day.

3 tackles for loss
1 forced fumble on mccarron
2 sacks

Mingo speed around the edges is freaking insane. now all he has to do is pump some iron to strengthen that long arms of his. another 2 yr with moffit he will have a chance to be as good or better than tyson jackson(still amazes me he was top 5 pick)

concerns about mingo not being on running play is fair most years. but we have shown throughout the season that running around the corners and attacking our DE is a losing proposition.

I went to YouTube and watched TR's runs against Penn State and Tenn. Seems that so many of his yards come from running through wide open holes after waiting on blocks. Can't deny he is really good at this and can certainly shift his body where he needs to be.

I could not help but think on several of the runs, "Mingo would chase him down while he is waiting for those holes". I saw several runs where he basically just hung out in the backfield waiting; hope we can meet him back there.

He already has. He's the 2nd name you hear when the line's being talked about behind sam. I agree he's a player who get's up for big games and will make his presence felt for this one too.

I wonder if they use Edwards against the power of Bama, and get Mingo in on 3rd down. He will be good if the DT's can step up and force them to play on the edges, and/or pass alot.

those 1st 4 games trent was blowing through the line untouched. Hes good, but lets see how he does when those wholes close up a lot quicker against a fast lsu front.

Well, if your correct, it will probably mean we did a great job of shutting down the run, and forcing the pass.

I hope you're right.

But, it is more likely that Mingo doesn't see the field on first downs, and obvious running downs. For every advantage his speed gives him, he is a liability versus the power running game, and I would expect Alabama to run right at him, if given the opportunity.

Now, I do think Chavis will be aware of this, and possibly leave Mingo in to draw the run on some occasions, loading that side with a safety blitz from time to time. But, I don't see Mingo winning any helmet to helmet battles against Bama's run game to his side.

I'm thinin Mingo, Montgomery, OBJ33, Ford (if he gets touches) HB7, and my suprise pick.. Tahj Jones will all have big games.

TJ58 has seen a good amount of PT in the last few games, and has produced rather well. He's gonna provide some good depth at LB, which we've been thin at this year.

We'll see. LSU's defense is much better at taking down speed backs (James, Demps/Rainey, McCaleb/Dyer). It will be interesting to see how they do against Richardson who is more of a power back, especially with how good Bama's O-line is. To me, that is the matchup of the game. If we shut down Richardson, we win. But we're in trouble if he has a big game.

I'm worried saban will be smart enough to run quick man runs with no hesitation to our defensive ends. Grant it they are fast but they won't be able to handle head up every play. Hopefully we can get some fresh meat out there.

Brockers is the guy to look out for. If he's on his game, our d-line will hold its own.

Mingo and Sam will be in Bama's backfeild just as much as TR, our Dline will close all the gaps up front and when the sides get taken away by M&M, TR will have little room to run, Im also calling it now we will see one hit from HB7 on TR that just makes everyone think how the hell did such a little dude hit the shite out of him

For me, it all starts on the line of scrimmage.. I expect our D line to do what they have been doing all season, disrupt things in the backfield, also..... they are really good at shedding blocks and closing the gap. I look for the Bama line to get called for holding quite a bit..(that will be the only way they slow our Dline) I think we handle the inside(tackle to tackle), I hope our backers can scrape and fill the hole between the tackle and DE..

GTFO! Ritter the bug-eyed bama ref is calling this game. Dream on, Bama won't have a signifigant holding penalty all game.

Is he a line judge?? Isnt that the ref that would call those penalties?? I thought he was usually the ref in the back of the secondary... I could be wrong...

Our DL is going to have a challenge, given that Alabama is exempt from offensive holding penalties (well, with BugEyes, they won't have anything called on them). Mingo offers our best chance, as hopefully he comes off the edge too fast for their OT's to hold him effectively.
