What did Miles do that qualifies as calling out D. Bird?

I think it was a bad pass because it was made. I think everyone can understand that 3 defenders and their six hands grabbing for the ball is asking for a pick. I don't know exactly what Miles said but being critical in public should be done very carefully. The players already feel bad enough, and being put down in public I don't think adds any additional motivation.

Miles has every right to call out whoever he wants. Any intelligent observer would understand that. Miles didn't blame the loss on DByrd..he merely stated what any coach would..that the ball was catchable. Go back to your dvr's and check it out. Lee passed into zone coverage and DByrd did his job and made an adjustment and the ball, simply, bounced off his chest. Gary Danielson, as usual, got it wrong and said the resultant hit popped the ball in the air...aaanh, wrong again Gary. Any coach at any level will rightly tell you that a pass that bounces off your chest is catchable. Miles is not calling out DByrd, he is illuminating the facts and the facts are that LSU, as a team, have not played at the level we realists and non-realists have come to expect. Face facts, LSU's recievers are not on par with the recent past. Henderson, Bowe (after corrective surgery), Buster Davis and Doucet may have been the best we've ever had at one time...and those guys all embraced the discipline of route running and aggresive blocking. JMHO. Later.

When Miles calls out a player for doing something wrong people wanna ream him. When he doesn't call out a player for doing something wrong people ream him. That poor man is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. With some of the fans we have I don't know why the man does stay here. I don't know how any coach would want to stay here. I think he's a damn fine coach....have a great day!!!

Sure is funny how so many people are ready to bash every other player on the field for their singular mistakes yet defend JL for his numerous ones. Next, we'll be all over the offense for not tackling well...oh wait, I see that is also a topic of discussion on another board.

we discussed the situation and the coaches made major adjustments after players blew coverages in the georgia game.

REC YDS AVG TD LG
J. Jones 7 128 18.3 0 26
E. Alexander 1 26 26.0 0 25
G. Coffee 2 19 9.5 0 11
N. Walker 1 18 18.0 0 18
T. McCall 2 14 7.0 0 7
M. McCoy 2 10 5.0 0 6
Team 15 215 14.3 0 26

The team averaged 14.3 yards a catch. You call that "major adjustments?" Looks like the same old shite to me. What about that play JPW heavily overthrew Julio Jones with McCray defending-almost getting called for PI? That was 6 if he does not overthrow the ball. Oh yeah, Bama had 138 yards with 3 tds, averaging 3.7 yards a carry. These are your "major adjustments?"
Hell, Alabama isn't even known for offense.

So Lee should be lighting up the stats just because freshman QBs at Texas and Oklahoma did it? You do realize that a freshman QB performing like McCoy and Bradford did are the exception and not the norm for inexperienced QBs right?

People were saying Miles was calling our Lee after the UGA game.

and there are a lot more people bashing JL around LSU than defending him

Lee threw it to Byrd in triple fricking coverage and not to mention passing on 3rd and 18 under the 20 yard line in LSU territory was a dumbass stupid fricking call.

no, they drove the ball once the whole game. How many turnovers did we force dumbshit? Their offense scored 3 tds, 2 on short fields after INT's. The defense played well and if you can't see that you are a fool.

Also, the major adjustments had to do with players blowing coverages WHICH THEY DIDN'T frickING DO THIS WEEK. The players didn't looked confused before the plays and were ready to go well before the ball was snapped. Just because you don't see whats going on doesn't mean it isn't there. We shut down bama better than anyone else has all year.

Nope. Disagree, he was not out of line and should be more critical of missed assignments and boneheaded decisions.
This team has not grasped the opportunities before it. Im glad Miles is trying to light a fire under the upper classmen of this team.

Byrd dropped it and let it pop up way before he was touched by any defender. Get some glasses.

so byrd popped the ball up? it was not the hit that caused that? that is moronic.

Dude, what in the world are you talking about?

You must have watched a different game than everyone because Byrd DID drop the ball before he was touched by anyone.

What is moronic about saying the ball hit Byrd in the hands, bounced off his shoulder pad, and THEN he got hit?

I'm not sure how that is moronic since that is what actually happened, lol.

There you go:

LINK

Sure, the ball was behind him, but that really HAS to be caught.

Had Byrd not bobbled it up in the air BEFORE he got hit, it's not an interception.

Got it...I'm just sayimg too many people (including Miles) are looking to fault others when the fact is the majority of mistakes come from a single position. I can help but wonder what Lee's confidence will be like if he has to deal with this every week

Looks like first he had a clear chance to catch it, untouched, and then redemption was available for him to pull it in just as the defender arrived. Instead the ball continued to be batted further UP into the air, instead of pulled down. If he hadn't made the intial catch, it could have deemed thoughful to knock it down after that, and not keep trying to keep the ball "in play".

just a thought.
