Does it bother anyone else the way that Coach uses the word "want"? Instead of saying, "the team wants victory every day", it's, according to Miles: "Our team comes in to each game with a true want for vicotry". Or, "our team carries out a want to compete. It just sounds weird. I had to get that off my chest.

I like to pretend he means "wont."

I also like to pretend I'm a robot.

No, it doesn't bother me. The guy loves his job. He's happy at LSU. He is our coach. He can speak Chinese if he wants to, I don't care. He's the one and only Les Miles.

You mean as a noun instead of a verb?

it has absolutely nothing to do with his coaching ability. just kind of sounds uneducated. however i am aware this is not the case.

Well the word "want" can be a noun, but the way he uses it is just strange. I'm not saying he's an idiot, it just doesn't sound right.

It would be more appropriate coming out of Master Yoda's mouth.

It's his mannerism with his mouth that makes me want to slap him.

look guy, get over it. you dont have to listen. saban used to say "relative to" a thousand times a minute. when you have jackasses asking you the same shite every week, you just throw some coach speak their way. "want" just happens to be miles' fave

When a speaker uses a word properly and the the listener thinks the use sounds uneducated or strange, then it is the listener who is ignorant.

i think milesisms are great. they certainly are unique. i need to start writing them down because my brain doesn't seem to want to be able to requote them. it is, however, enjoying the work and will give it a good go in the future.

I just wish I understood the meaning behind these sentences.

It can't be by accident that he says some of these things the way he does.

Its Milesbonics...It makes him and LSU look very different, and furthers the rationale for calling him "The Hat". The "Mad Hatter", of course is a reference to craziness due to mercury poisoning, which causes erratc/strange behavior that is decidedly out of the norm. With Miles, it manifests itself in saying things that no other college-educated person says, such as the consistent use of the phrase "want"

Personally, I have a want for more, and it is something I am certainly looking forward to with great anticipation and passion.
