FWIW, 07 was probably only our 5th best team in the past 7 years.

..and the only OSU Team with a #1 ranked Defense, in many years.

Against an absolutely terrible schedule. To go along with a terrible offense. The starting QB of that team was replaced the following season by a true freshman that didn't even show up for spring practice. Both 02 and 05 D's were lightyears ahead of 07.

08 was virtually the exact same team as 07 (only 4 new starters), with everybody a year older, and you saw how they did, with a more difficult schedule. If you seriously think our 07 team could beat our 02, 03, 05, or 06 teams, you're crazy (heck, theoretically, I could say our 07 team was worse than 08, also, for the reason I mentioned, but I'll just say that losing those 4 starters [one of whom was a full back who technically started, but wasn't used often, another was a RT, another our worst starting LB, and the other a DT] was the reason 07 did better).

He hasn't been here long enough to determine how consistent he is. Last season certainly did not resemble any of the previous three.

He's been here as long as Meyer has been at Florida. The difference in Resumes is Miles:
42-11 & Meyer: 44-9. 2 games seperate them for now..

You've given lots of reason why OSU shouldn't have been ranked #1. Which begs the question, why/how was OSU even allowed to be ranked #1 at all, muchless participatein the BCS National Championship?

Because 07 was one of the worst years of the top 10 in history. And OSU did deserve to be there, that's the sad thing. No offense to you guys, but there are a lot of years where LSU's 07 record wouldn't have even gotten them in the final top 4 or 5 (like this past year).

(You guys did deserve to be the NC, though.)

To them Miles>>>>>>any male they know of on the planet.

So, JJ, is Davis your only mancrush or are you also a member of the little nicky knobslobbers too?

Sure.

They gave up 12.8 points/game that year.

And how many points per game did they allow in 2006? 12.8

Where you rank depends on how other do. They could have ranked #1 in 2006, but other teams did better like Va. Tech who allowed only 11 points/game.
