Yes they are. Reading is fundamental.

No...i do not defend everything Miles. Just the myths started on this board by dumbasses who apparently need to sharpen their reading comprehension skills.

These are exactly what I said it was. We have to have the absence of running the ball up the field. We have to be in the state of being without running the ball up the field. We need a sense of lack of running the ball up the field.

Nos. 11 and 12 do mean desire, but they are not used in the sense that he uses them. We have to have a need to be able to run the ball? We DO have a need, it's not up to us to have the fricking need. We have to have a requirement of being able to run the ball? That's not up to us, the requirement is imposed on us already.

Choc, you defend everything about Miles, but when you get to areas of clock management and speaking coherently, he's just indefensible. Just give up, acknowledge he can't speak or read a digital clock, and concentrate on the things he isn't absolutely ridiculously bad at.

And, of course, the MUCH bigger problem than Miles' apparent illiteracy is the fact that, in his mind, the "want" is enough. Actually doing it isn't necessary.

we all "move by desire".

Miles is correct and his vocabulary is matched to his audience.

We have to have a desire to move up the field.

Which sounds more manly?

We have to have the want to move up the field.
Not precisely American English but....

Why are so many "fans" obsessed with how Miles frickin talks to the media. That is one of the last things that should be evaluated when it comes to the coaching position. It is really stupid.

He only sounds like an idiot to...

1. those that hate him and find fault in everything he does. aka you

and/or

2. those that don't have an understanding of the English language.

Im not saying every word that comes out of his mouth is perfect English but you guys should really do your homework before you start ripping someone for what he says.

A lot of people probably think that the national perception of LSU is based on Miles' appearance in front of the media. When you are unable to put together coherent sentences and you screw games up like Ole Miss and Penn St, it doesn't look good for LSU. Miles could sound like special Ed for all I care though, as long as he wins games.

That's stretching things. I think you're on the short side of this one. It's not a very common usage but if want can be used as a synonym for desire it seems to fit. Besides which if we have to get down to that level of semantic disection it looks a little silly.

I should certainly hope so. My agenda is to see LSU be as good as possible, so naturally I criticize and oppose those who keep that from happening. If that weren't clear from my posts, then I wouldn't be doing a very good job of communicating.
