And the WANT strikes again...

The WANT is more powerful than the Force from Star Wars.

Fear the WANT.

Exactly my point. The OP simplified the original quote. Some of these idiots really need to get over how Les speaks in front of reporters. I heard him speak at the Bayou Bash again this year and he was totally different.

Who gives a shite? Do any of you know that the word "want" can be used as a noun?

Yes, in its noun form, it is roughly synonymous with "lack" (e.g for want of a horse, etc.). Do you think that's how Les means it? We need to have a lack of running the ball up the field? Now, that makes perfect sense.

Jesus Christ some of you are just dense...

quote:

want

–noun
11.something wanted or needed; necessity: My wants are few.
12.something desired, demanded, or required: a person of childish, capricious wants.
13.absence or deficiency of something desirable or requisite; lack: plants dying for want of rain.
14.the state of being without something desired or needed; need: to be in want of an assistant.
15.the state of being without the necessaries of life; destitution; poverty: a country where want is virtually unknown.
16.a sense of lack or need of something: to feel a vague want.

These are exactly what I said it was. We have to have the absence of running the ball up the field. We have to be in the state of being without running the ball up the field. We need a sense of lack of running the ball up the field.

Nos. 11 and 12 do mean desire, but they are not used in the sense that he uses them. We have to have a need to be able to run the ball? We DO have a need, it's not up to us to have the fricking need. We have to have a requirement of being able to run the ball? That's not up to us, the requirement is imposed on us already.

Choc, you defend everything about Miles, but when you get to areas of clock management and speaking coherently, he's just indefensible. Just give up, acknowledge he can't speak or read a digital clock, and concentrate on the things he isn't absolutely ridiculously bad at.

And, of course, the MUCH bigger problem than Miles' apparent illiteracy is the fact that, in his mind, the "want" is enough. Actually doing it isn't necessary.
