o it was a good idea to get some of the booing over before a national broadcast and a main focus on ESPN's front page.

ESPN3 and Direct Tv visibility are not that significant, especially with all the many good games on regular tv/espn networks.

This was the best way to get the inevitable thing out of the way. Miles planned it this way and he is a genius. Period.

It was on regional TV... Everyone got it in the south, you know the place we only recruit from??? Yea miles had no idea that was going to occur. Btw, T - bob is an idiot! The fans who spoke out are frustrated... Silly to boo though. That's messed up. But what is the difference between JJ puting the team at risk with his immature act and the fans being immature by booing?

yeah, like everyone saw it and hyper-focused on it. People are so freakin sensitive and are in love with being "done wrong". Don't want to be "done wrong"? Then man up and stay out of trouble and don't bring negative attention from off-the-field actions to the entire university.

Did he also know he had 12 players in the huddle?
He's a real genius but he can't count or tell time.

Some might suggest that Miles put Jefferson in on a high probability high payoff play for the primary reason of muting future boos.

THis is precisely my thinking - and I am glad he did it that way.

As long as JJ is alive & on the team he will still be Les's boy. Jl has played great this year i just hope Les & jj don't destroy the team! I had thought we might make a NC run but now I don't know.

The only thing for me to add is we all seem to be pleased about our depth in the O and D but we seem to have trouble with the Q --- I am not excluding myself in this

Notice that JJ ran the ball a lot? The only reason he was put into the game was to make it clear to Florida they had two different QB styles to prepare for, something that's hard to do and diffuses their preparation for Jarrett Lee.

I think there is something to this. There is often method behind Miles' madness.

For the first four games, people here - even many negatigers - were praising Miles. Now, with this one action, people are back to nailing Miles to the cross. Just because YOU cannot understand the purpose behind his action doesn't mean that is wrong. Support Miles' decision to play JJ. Apparently, the rest of the team does...and that is ALL that matters.

A regional broadcast of an 11 am game is not prime time. It was seen across the south but was not a high focus game and not a frontpage of espn game.

Les had said multiple times that JJ has some plays that he will run in the offense and Les knows the team feels JJ was wronged.

It is a wise move to put JJ in let him score, let the fans boo, and move forward with the realization that Miles will play JJ some this season.

I would rather the booing now then next week versus Florida where ESPN and all national reporters would focus on the boos and make it into a bigger deal then it is.

Really?? Then why didn't he acknowledge that many of the boos were directed toward him? If he didn't expect some boos given the time and circumstance of when he sent JJ in, then he's a bit naive. My guess is most of the boo's (the non raciest ones) were directed toward Miles' decision to bring JJ in early in the game after a long drive. Had he sent him in later (late 3rd or 4th qr) to maybe start a series, there would have been very few boos and a lot of support, in my opinion. There was no strategic reason to bring him in when he did. I like Miles alot--we wouldn't be were we are without him--but I think he used poor judgment in this case.

The game was not carried by ABC, it might have been on your local ABC affiliate, but not nation wide. It was a broadcast of SEC network that lines up various affilates in market interested in the game. For example, where I live, the game was shown on the FOX affialte

Anyone in the country that had ESPN gameplan could have watched the game. (For what its worth).

If you look at the play again and pause it when the player is jogging off past the ref I'm pretty sure there were still 12 players in formation. So they actually broke the huddle with 13 and one started running off the field before the TO.

Miles is the DaVinci of football. He paints works of art that are way ahead of its time, and waits for everyone to catch up to his forethought and wisdom. Like most genuis's, normal folk like rantsers cannot understand it - until the season and a 14-0 record unveils the wisdom after the fact.
