According to ESPN 8 wins

Personally, I predict 9 but several will be very, very ugly wins.

Alabama 9.9
Auburn 9.2
Georgia 9.1
South Carolina 8.9
Mississippi State 8.5
Texas A&M 8.3
LSU 8
Ole Miss 7.7
Florida 7.6
Missouri 7
Kentucky 5.5
Tennessee 5.4
Vanderbilt 4.9
Arkansas 4.9

I've already mentioned this, but LSU fans think that ESPN and the media "hates" and disrespects our team, yet most of our own fans predict us to lose 2-3 games this year (which is slowly turning into a trend).

Tell me - does Alabama have superior talent to LSU? If not, then why should our expectations be any lower, especially considering that both teams are in almost identical situations going into this season?

If you're going by that list they're picking us 5th in the West.

Why is Texas A&M and MSU ahead of us?

Yes, look at the recruiting rankings for the current rosters:
2011 - Bama 1, LSU 8
2012 - Bama 1, LSU 14
2013 - Bama 1, LSU 6
2014 - Bama 1, LSU 2

Bama has superior talent to everyone.

For me, 8 wins is a worst case scenario. 11 wins would be a best case scenario. Average 9 or 10 would be realistic. I've had to accept replacing Hill, Landry, Beckham, Mettenberger is just too much to overcome even with Fournette, Dupree, Quinn, etc. This is going to be a very difficult season to predict simply because to match the offensive numbers from last year would be incredible. That's unless Jennings, Harris (or both) exceed expectations. The SEC West is the toughest division in all of College Football. I have to say MSU and TAM ranked ahead of us is a little painful to look at.

It's a complete joke. There's no way we finish worse than 3rd.

Wasn't Auburn picked 5th last year? Might not be such a bad thing.

MSU has some expectations this year. I am interested to see how they handle it.

Thanks for posting this...i'm tired of everyone saying LSU has the same depth as Bama. It's just not true.

Maybe at certain positions, i.e. DB and LB, but OL and DL, the recruiting is not on par.

Teams all around the league are going through QB position changes and the schedule is still favorable for LSU.. And LSU brings back an excellent o-line and an incredibly talented defense with experience behind them..

As someone else stated, no worse than 3rd in the west.. and very well can and should win the west as a whole this season.

I'm willing to concede that Alabama has superior talent to us.

Most LSU fans, however, need to pick a side. Either we have the same level of talent as Alabama, in which case our expectations shouldn't be "2-3 losses per year (especially this year)". Or, we don't have the same level of talent, in which case, feel free to dejectedly predict 2-3 losses per year for the foreseeable future.

I know everyone is going to be upset about such predictions but for f's sake, there is a damn good chance we're going to be starting a true freshman at QB in the SEC.

Has this worked out on occasion? Yeah. But shite man, you certainly can't rely on it.

That't not what you previously said, but glad you are coming to your senses.

I don't think it has to be either scenario. 2-3 losses a season are pretty standard for any college football upper level team, along with a season every 3-5 years with 0 or 1 losses where you are competing for a national championship.

Last year 7 teams went into the bowls with less than 2 losses. Of those teams, UCF played a joke schedule, as did Ohio St and Baylor.

While at LSU, Les would have had us in the final 4 in about 3 of his 9 seasons. That is very good and means he is on par with my reasonable expectations.

Bama is on an unbelievable run right now, which is very rare. Nobody can compare to them currently.
