Why does everyone say he was not a great player for LSU? He had a great showing on the carries he was given..I have never seen a back be able to get to the corner like he could. He also ran pretty well in between tackles. I thought he should only be second in carries to Hill.

Because his production never came close to matching his potential. He did well on his carries--no doubt. He could not be trusted to play, especially last year, because he is either unwilling or unable to block, and he did not know the play book well enough to earn 10-15 touches. He went the wrong way at Auburn costing us a touchdown. He went the wrong way at Towson, I think, causing a turnover. He had serious playbook issues. My hope is, without school to focus on, he can reach his potential.

Simply based on playing time. Look up his stats.

That is an impressive jump.
You could build an offense around that...

Also, it's not unusual for leaner athletes to have more explosive power. The bench press is an explosive movement.

I'd actually expect a lean, but stocky, 220-pounder to be able to outrep a bulky 300-pounder at 225.

Ford is literally one of the weakest(tackle breaking ability) RBs I've seen for his size and strength level. How could he be taken down soooo easily when he benches over 400 and squats over five? With that compact body, he should be able to bounce off tacklers, but he is not shifty at all. He's faster than the 4.5 indicates but if he can't learn how to break tackles, he'll be forever a spot back or out of the league early.

Will be this years version of Stevan Ridley, one the board thinks is a 6th or 7th round pick and some team takes him early and posters come here to laugh at the team taking him.

All I can chalk it off to is bad balance and a lack of vision.

His strength doesn't really play a part in his game since he is always looking for the edge. He is always getting tripped up with arm tackles instead of punishing would be tacklers.
