I want to kick all the QB's off the team. Then start recruiting the best 8th grade QB in the world. Tell him we are gonna keep that position open until he commits.

Lets be honest here

This post is so stupid it's an embarrassment to LSU as an academic institution, just by virtue of you being a fan.

How is that for honest?

With this idiotic fan base the backup QB is ALWAYS the most popular guy. ALWAYS.

Dude Mett is not a bad QB. I really think the problems with the OL this year affected him way more than we know. When he got pressure early it was like he just could not get comfortable and was always looking over his shoulder. Causing the overthrows and other issues. The games where he didn't get pressured early he didn't loose that sense of comfort and played pretty good. For whatever reason once Mett got rattled he couldn't get it back together.

This is nowhere near accurate. Good QBs handle pressure much better. It comes with preparation and the kind of work ethic and dedication that a guy like McCarron has, but Mett does not. Don't get me wrong, Mett has crazy physical skills. But it takes a hell of a lot more. He has zero presnap awareness (or at least negligible) and no pocket presence. And his inaccuracy does not flow from pressure, rather from his lazy and inconsistent footwork. He is inaccurate with or without pressure. I doubt it will change much next year, so he will have games he looks all world (Bama this year) and games that he looks all-turd (Towson). And that's a fact, jack.

i do nothing but complain on this board lately and even I like Mett. in fact I like him a lot. he can make throws that we havent seen here in a long time, if ever. hes not perfect, but all of his issues (except maybe pocket awareness) can be fixed and I think Krag, health permitting, can fix them.

All the bragging about Mett he has played 1 game last year against bama. other than that, he is average at best!

I hope you are right re work ethic and determination. IMHO, you either have those things or don't. I wish it were otherwise, but...

Mett is what will keep 2013 from looking like 2008. If he were to leave things could get really ugly.

There is still a ton of solid talent on this team, and LSU isn't the only team losing players.

Every year people bemoan the loss of key players. After about the 3rd game of the season that is generally forgotten. Don't write off 2013.

I'm just not seeing it. He has a strong arm, but those guys are dime-a-dozen. He's inaccurate and has zero pocket presence or ability to elude pressure. Certainly the coaching, OL and WR drops don't help, but I just don't think Mett's going to develop into an "elite" QB.

how about no.... Mett finally hit his stride going into the end of the season. How young this team is we'll need some veteran leadership on this team.

he had several games in a row where he looked great, including Ole Miss where he repeatedly stepped up in the pocket, delivered great throws, and took big hits.

Even the almighty Breesus struggles when his oline doesn't block well

EFFF that. Mett has all the tools to be an elite QB. Another year with his WR's and a solid OL. He puts it all together in 2013.

Keep waiting bro

frick no, unless you want to regress to even more basic and conservative play calling for a first year starter

Uh no? It's getting pretty tiring everyone dumping on Mett. Like he was the reason for our failures this season. He might have been underwhelming to start the year, but it was his first time starting. You're delirious if you think we come a min away from beating Bama and not losing to Ole Miss or Arkansas without him.
