Making this thread with a bit of a heavy heart.

When I left for LSU my dog hated it. He used to come jump in my truck when I went to leave and would cry and chase my truck as far as he could. Anyone who's had a lab know how much those dogs can love. My mom would send me pics of him staring at pics of me in my room. Anyways he was by far my best friend and had been for 10 years.

My mom found him my freshman year passed away in my boat (we used to go hunting/fishing as much as possible). I left my apartment because I didn't want to be around anyone and ended up at Mikes cage with a sixer. I sat on one of the benches looking at the stadium and when I turned around mike was standing looking at me. When I looked at him, he cocked his head to the side like TK had done a million times before. I couldn't handle it and fell to my knees and cried like a baby. That damn cat walked up to the cages and started rubbing against the glass like he wanted to be petted.

I don't know why and I can't explain it, but I swear he knew.

Pull through big fella.

That stuff about your dog is sad as shite. But this below...

Eh. I think Mike sensed you were weak and wanted an easy meal.

I remember that one time he got in the cage and showed up to the game.

He saw the terrible offense and decided to just tailgate instead of go to the games in the future. I don't blame him.

The first date my wife and I went on included going see Mike VI. This is also the only Mike that our kids have ever known so my son is gonna be pretty bummed when that dreadful day comes. I haven't told him about Mikes condition yet and I don't know if I want to.

The day before my wife graduated from LSU I took her on a tour of campus, before I proposed at the bell tower. My wife had commented that she never really saw Mike out and about, but rather always sleeping in the corner. For whatever reason when we passed him that day is was in full on tiger mode, running around, jumping in the water, etc. It was a cool experience.

You are right.

My brother told me he wanted things from my parents house to remember them by since they are up in years and in bad health.
He said the same thing "Memories"
He rarely visits them and they are only 5 miles away.

I told him they are still alive, spend time with them and make memories with them, not with their possessions.

You are right.

That's exactly what a wild animal wants, to be petted.

I had a 7:30 class one semester and would always pass by Mike on the way to class.
Every now and then this guy and his wife would ride their bikes up to Mike's cage, and somehow Mike would recognize this guy every time. Mike would immediately run up to him and start interacting with the guy.
Was an awesome sight... even skipped class a few times for it

Probably on of his former student care takers. I do not think people realize how much time and dedication is necessary to hold one of those two posts. Mike knows his handlers and his vet.

He rubbed my legs at the gate I jumped because he had been gone for a good while, he followed me down the street took a right and then a left and then a right at a store where he stopped at the same post my old cat always stopped at and yowled at me as far as he could see me just like my cat .I cant tell how you many chilles went up down my spine I never saw him again !

I didn't mean to insinuate that wild animals like to be coddled or that tigers dont eat people. I just wanted to share an experience with Mike that I won't forget.
