and it's no secret that with the relative fall of McNeese's program corresponds with the relative rise of UL and SLU

McNeese was already sliding before either example

Tate was a really good 1AA recruiter but his coaching staff had issues and his players were a bit wild

Then the admin/boosters anointed Viator, who is there to promote a wholesome football team. it's just a philosophical shift

think of it as a 1AA example of what happened at Colorado or Miami

i think it's because there is a legit focus on student athletes and finding quality DTs who aren't complete idiots is difficult for major 1A teams

If you mean guys who make good decisions, this may be true. But (as a guy who got his bachelor's from McNeese) I can tell you that they don't recruit rocket scientists to play football there.

In fact, there's a pretty significant issue with grade inflation for football players with one of the instructors in the math department who also "tutors" football players.

well having them actually go to class is the first step. i don't think that was being regulated in the previous coaching admins

and there is grade inflation everywhere. when i was at LSU i was blown away at how stupid some of the regular students were. i can only imagine how numb i would become if i had to go to mcneese. i know there are handful of very quality students, but when about half the kids i met at LSU aren't what i'd consider "college material" i can only imagine what i'd think dealing with the population of students who couldn't get into LSU

It would be no surprise

Les' teams tend to start slow against lesser opponents.

U could be correct. No one is looking to embarrass anyone here. And no one expects any dirty knee play either. It a friendly.

Wasn't that after the FLA game? And before a game at Auburn? This will be the 1st game of the season and I would think LSU would come out super fired up and put a beatdown on McNeese. 48-7 or something like that.

Fournette is going to have his way with us, no doubt about that.

I think we will move the ball and do some good things. But yeah, Fournette is going to just wreck us up and down the field.

Viator sucks, but people like him and he wins just enough games to keep his job. We compete in games we have no business in, then get our shite kicked in on games other teams shouldn't be in with us. It's frustrating

Sorry Charlie but at this level, LSU should have come out smoking McNeese that night... But then again LSU was barely a 10-2 team in 2010... They had three games they could have easily lost.... Think about it.........

That game was just another truly dismal first half offensive performance that night.

I think JJ actually got benched a couple of series he played so shitty.

The score was 16-10 late in the 3rd quarter. But don't worry, we will take care of ULL for you next year.
Nobody on here gives a rat's arse about McNeese or SWLAJC@Lafayette or what happens when they play or anything else about their programs.

And as Hannibal Lecter told Clarise Starling in "Silence of the Lambs", "Now fly away little birdie, fly fly fly."...........................

I don't know why you're laughing. LSU is going to anything fancy and will probably working on specific things and probably won't be too concerned with the score early in the game. It's not out of the realm of possibility McNeese could be hanging around down a TD or less at the half. I could see a 14-7 first half on the way to a 42-10 style rout

Tell me what power 5 schools has Mcneese beat. I remember being close to beating A&M and Nebraska and playing Miami well some years ago but can't remember 1 time they actually beat a power 5 school.
