If you honestly don't think that the aggregate talent of LSU QBs this year is better than that of JLee and JJ, you don't know LSU football. Therefore you're unqualified to make this type of assertion. In 2010 LSU leaned on McNeese to win by 4 TDs. This year, LSU will cruise to a 5-6 TD victory.

he defense was better in 2010.

This just isn't true.

That year LSU won 11 games. I don't see the Tigers winning 11 this year.

First of all, that's a pretty bold assertion for a team that returns a significant amount of starters and has had consecutive HUGE recruiting classes. Let alone the fact that your prediction has not factored in McNeese at all.

I'd say Mcneese needs to focus on beating SLU since they haven't done that since Roberts arrived in Hammond. The last 2 years they've been physically dominated. LSU up by 20+ going into halftime.

OK. So you're from Sulphur & attend McNeese. You're a McNeese Cowboy ie: Poke.

As the earlier poster said. It's early Sept in south Louisiana...everyone will sweat, fans too.

One of McNeese's problem the last few years and the #1 reason behind their slow decline is their lack of ability to recruit the front 7. The LBs have been just OK but the DL has been absolutely dreadful the last 5-6 years. Trotting out 220lb DEs constantly. 250lb DTs. Recruiting this area is a major issue with Viator and I don't understand how he continually lacks in this area.

I think LSU will and can run the ball at least 40 times this game. Pass to give Harris a bit of work in that area.

LSU could win by 70 if they wanted to but they will limit the playbook, rest starters and play on cruise control for most of the game and likely let you stay within 30

Those Bobby Keasler teams from the early-mid nineties were gigantic. McNeese's front seven looked like a P5 team, size and athleticism-wise. The last few years, they've looked physically like a 5A high school team.

I don't know how Matt Viator has lasted as long as he has.

And McNeese is losing their "Newton connection."

LB Tanner Holmes committed to UL, which means the pipeline may shift from Lake Charles to Lafayette. Mark Hudspeth is a great recruiter, and it's no secret that with the relative fall of McNeese's program corresponds with the relative rise of UL and SLU. Also, Newton is now putting kids into P5 schools, with DJ Dean at Arkansas and Roney Elam at Texas A&M.

LSU could win this game 80-0, or struggle to work out the kinks and win 35-17.

Either way, it won't tell us anything about LSU this season.

The rubber will meet the road in Starkvegas.

Their have been years when McNeese could have kept it close but not this year and not in the near future.

LSU is simple way to physical for McNeese. It would take multiple turnovers with McNeese scoring on ST and defense to even keep it reasonable.

The only advantage McNeese has is that it is the first game of the year so depth will not be a problem till the 4th qtr for them.

If you are the McNeese DC, do you sell out and stack the box every play?

It is a college football game in early September in south Louisiana.

Everybody in the stadium will be sweating their asses off.

The game, however, will be close until shortly after kickoff.

i think it's because there is a legit focus on student athletes and finding quality DTs who aren't complete idiots is difficult for major 1A teams, let alone 1AA teams who are trying to recruit student-athletes. that's the feel i get from knowing some boosters and hearing viator comment about recruiting. the money men are happy with a slightly less quality team as long as their granddaughters don't have to worry about the FB team or as long as they don't have to worry about the team being busted gambling
