Are we a tourney team with this exact team with Martin instead of Simmons?

Probably

I think there was some serious jealousy of Simmons in the locker room. I think some of the more veteran players couldn't handle his preferential treatment.

No. Mickey instead of Martin, probably. The lack of any semblance of rim protection was one of the biggest weaknesses of this team.

I think we wouldve been better with Martin or Mickey.

Honestly, I think the team would have been better with Martin. He was a good shooter so teams would not be able to pack it in as much. Both weren't great on defense but I feel like Martin could bang with the big boys underneath where it seems that ben would shy a way from contact. Simmons was a better ball handler in the open court but Martin was really good too.

The situation seemed to mirror what happened with the Fab Five at Michigan. Difference? Steve Fisher had 5 star freshmen to handle and is actually a good coach so he was able to make it work.

Our coach couldn't make it work with two star freshmen. Keep gettin' them checks, Johnny.

This board would still be continuously bashing Fisher for not winning a national championship with that team. It's not right and what fisher did with that group was pretty amazing but if you have been on this board before they continue to bash current and former coaches in every sport that have had equal the success Fisher had at Michigan.

I think it's give and take. Martin has the scoring ability but Ben has the all around ability he's just too passive. Martin wasn't passive at all.

yes. one of our issues this year was we didn't have rim protection or anyone to keep teams from running layup lines through our defense. but even if we did have martin or mickey back, instead of Simmons....we still wouldn't have had a true playmaking PG or ball-handler. Which is another problem we had this year, all year. This would have caused issues all year long.
