There is a major lack of in game QB coaching going on.

Well, at least we're getting somewhere specific. Cam prefers to be in the press box. Miles is not a QB coach.

The same can be said for that appearance on the defensive side for the d-line and linebackers, IMO.

Most important question about the luncheon... If Les choked would somebody Heimlich him?

Does anyone recall us ever gaining positive yardage on a toss dive? (at least against a top tier SEC team?)

And yet, that's your call on 3rd and short?

Ridiculous

That play was the go ahead j. hill TD against both a&m and s. car.

You really can't prepare the players any more than they were to play a top-tier program. It's been said many times, but "Coaches coach, but players play". At some point they have to gain the maturity and discipline to handle the situation. They need to stop relying on just athletic ability and take the practices seriously. They were simply outclassed.

Question: How could the coaches make a clearly nervous QB stop throwing 5 feet above the players' head?

that's a hard thing to do because it is an easy fix, its just his fundamentals, which means he's just rushing himself. could be because he's rattled, too much adrenaline (first start), etc. basically he just needed to settle down and not rely so much on just his arm but use proper foot work.

most of the time this results when you think about what you are doing too much rather than just do what you have done so many times in practice and in games before.

Why not have both Cam and Chavis on the sideline? These guys are young, get face to face with them and better understand, rather than relay it to another guy? But hey, I'm no coach.

Just heard portions of the news conference by Miles on the Finebaum shoe .. SEC Net

Having said "portions" I noticed one HUGE thing...
the ABSENCE of any "I" or "we" in reference to the coaches, it was all about what "the young men of quality" need to do.

THAT is the problem.
Miles does nothing wrong in his mind; therefore, how can there be anything to fix ?

The team ran well of 1st down even though Auburn knew it was coming virtually all game long.

I haven't studied the whole game, but for at least the first few series Aub didn't appear to be in a solid run defense on those first downs. Looked like they were respecting the pass to some degree.

"The team ran well of 1st down even though Auburn knew it was coming virtually all game long."

So he's admitting our offense is predictable.

His thoughts were to save the TO in case the play resulted in being down in the field of play.
there was a play run. and time ran out. Actually Les said the "he couldn't call time out while the chains were being moved".. I HOPE that was a slip of the tongue and he knows better...
quote:

If he calls a TO, he can only try a FG.
wrong.. if he calls a time out with 10 seconds, you get one play to the end zone. if its not there throw it away. thats what you tell you QB. you can run an eight second endzone play from the 20. still have 2 seconds to kick the field goal.
quote:

Players should know the situation and know they have to get the play completed quickly.
a freshman QB making his first start, already rattled by being down 24 points??
quote:

He trusted his players to execute. Simple as that. They failed.
yep.. its the players fault. it's always the players fault. every damn les miles clock mismanagement is the players fault..

to make it even worse they go off the field and sit on the bench and its like they're all by themselves
i don't recall one time seeing a coach by the kid coaching him, or encouraging him, when he was sitting on the bench.

That's because there wasn't any. But Miles is a good, competent coach these days. 80% Winz and such.

when I was in school 80% was barely a "B" average...
and we pay $ 4 MM for that ?

This is real world... you are judged by the PRESENT, not what you did in the past.

as they say, you are what your record says your are.

Dude, he will fix it. He did it before. Like 6 years ago, but he fixed it. Sure, the SEC West competition is far stiffer, but he is Les fricking Miles. Dude is a legend. It's not his fault that the players and assistant coaches fail him from time-to-time. LSU could never do better.

Are people really trying to defend not calling a timeout at that point?

Once he realized Harris wasn't spiking the damn ball he should've called the timeout immediately. That was one of the stupidest time mismanagements I've ever seen, and this is Les we are talking about here.
