LSU's Matt Canada, Dave Aranda share some ideas behind what they do

Much of what Aranda wants is to lure the offense to moving in one direction and then have an attacking player come from the other direction. He used the phrase "dictate the terms" -- his basic approach to defensive football -- more than once.
Against a Canada-coached offense, those terms can change from one practice to the next. By facing Canada's offenses, Aranda's unit will "not be blindsided by a motion or a play" during the fall, he said after the clinic.
No matter what his defense faces during the season, "we will have seen it" by practicing against Canada's offense, Aranda said.
That, it would seem, could be the best thing to come out of their first offseason together. And as fine a lesson as anything that either could teach.

Wonder what Aranda was thinking last year about this time? having to practice against cam /miles offense compared to now against Canada's offense. I bet the spring game will be fun if they play it similar to actual game.

I think this'll be one of the highest scoring spring games in a long while.

What date is the spring game? I just got down here for work and I'm thinking about taking the game in.

I think the whole "one side of the ball helps the other side of the ball in practice" is overblown.
LSU - why didn't our great defenses the last 10 years ever help get the offense out of the cellar?
Saints- why have they still had a crappy defense despite practicing against a hall of famer every week?

I got this one... If your offensive scheme sucks then it won't matter who your defense is, you can only be so good. Basically LSUs defense made Cams offense as good as it was going to get.
The Saints defense just doesn't have the players yet, either too young or they just don't have it together yet, much less depth.
But when you have the players and the scheme on both sides they make each other GREAT. I don't think we have all the players we will have in 3 years on offense and defense but I think we have enough to look completely different on offense and the defense will get better as the year goes. I also believe our ST will take a huge step as well this year. More big plays on Offense, Defense and ST that we haven't seen in a long time.
We may not win them all but LSU will finally be clicking on offense, you will see a rhythm build as the game goes on, not the horrible go no where fast offense we've been used to. They will move the ball on offense, play smart attacking defense while lookin for ways to get the ball back to the offense. Being more aggressive on ST, like stripping the ball, going after punts at key moments, and actually trying to block fieldgoals. I also think you will see more kick off and punt specialty plays like a wall being built to one side or other. All these things puts immense pressure on your opponent which is the key to giving your team the confidence or edge they need to become a championship team as well as strike fear in the opposition.
That LSU uniform will be highly intimidating if we are this big/fast while playing smart as frick! HTTDB

I can't remember the last time I was this excited to see what we put on the field... not from a player perspective, but from a scheme / formation aspect.
Exciting times my friends...

I hope the spring hype isn't like it was when Les was the coach..., frustrating disappointment.
